“How does that make you feel?”

“Lucky her?” I blink a few times.

“That’s it? You’re not angry? Jealous?”

“Why would I be? He’s way too good-looking for me. He’d never think of me like that.” Even if I did have a fantasy last night about him falling madly in love with me despite my faults, those were dashed the minute the blonde bombshell sidled up to him. “I’m not his type.”

“Aw, Emma.”

“No pity. You know I hate pity.”

“I just feel bad. You’re adorable and he was hot. I’d love for you to land a guy like that.”

“My God, Carl.” I snicker. “He’s not a plane.”

She laughs. “A plane.”

“No.” I shake my head. “It wasn’t meant to be.”
