Her face morphs into concern. “Oh, no. Did someone run into you?”

“Yeah.” Nobody ran into me, but I’m about to punch someone in their fucking smug face. That’s going to hurt my ribs.

“Let’s go, then.”

“Becks.” The twerp is practically whining. “I’ve been waiting to party with you for weeks.”

“Well.” She looks up at me. “I could walk him home and come back.”

Okay. Now. I’m pissed.

Beyond pissed.

Does she not get it? Doesn’t she see what she’s doing? She’s supposed to be with me.

I guess not. I can take a hint. “Fuck this.” I turn on my heel and head straight for the door. “How could I have been so wrong about her?”

“Lucky?” I hear her voice from somewhere behind me. I don’t bother stopping. Why would I? “Lucky!” Her voice is louder now. When she grabs hold of my arm, I’m tempted to rip it free, but when I look down at her, all I see is worry on her pretty face. “What’s wrong?”

“What’s wrong?” I growl. It can’t be helped. “What’swrong?”

“Yeah. What’s wrong? Why are you so mad?”

We’ve drawn attention to ourselves. I can’t have that. I won’t make a scene at this stupid party. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t give two shits what these assholes think of me, but I won’t have them talking about Becklyn.

Taking hold of her hand, I pull her with me out the door and across the lawn to building five. Pulling the key card out of my pocket, I slide it through the reader and hold the door open for her. I follow her up a set of steps to my floor, unlock my door, and hold it open for her too. Once inside, I drop my keys on the table, turn, and I’m on her before she can even speak. I’ve got my arms around her and palms on her ass. Lifting her, I press her up against the wall next to the door. “You and me are gonna have a long talk after.”

She looks terrified. “After?”

“Yeah. After.”

“After what?”

Instead of talking, I lean in and kiss her lips softly. “After I show what I meant when I said you’re mine.” I pause. “And I’m yours.”

“Oh. I see.”

“Do you? Because the shit you just said back there says otherwise.”

“What do you mean?”

I guess we’re having the talk first. It makes sense to do it this way. I set her down on the ground and take her hand again, leading her through my living room to my bedroom. We haven’t slept together, as I said, but we’ve spent a good amount of time on my bed. We’ve had some good talks there too.

Once I’m in my room, I pull off my tee and strip out of my jeans, leaving me in only my boxer briefs. “Your turn.” I nod to Becklyn.

Like it’s old hat, she strips off her shirt, then those tight jeans. I smile when I see her black bra and matching panties. “Pretty,” I say, reaching out so I can touch the pretty lace trim on the bra.

“It’s new.”

“I like it.”

“Me too.” She smirks. “It makes me feel confident.”

“As it should.” I let my hand glide down over her shoulder and down her arm. I feel her skin prickle beneath my fingers. “So soft.”

I watch her walk over to the bed and sit. “So, as you were saying…”

I have to think for a minute. What was I saying?
