Alfonso pranced directly to Oren and bowed. Oren looked a little taken aback by the little donkey’s action, but hesitantly rubbed his head. The precious animal jumped up and pranced around as if that was the best thing that had ever happened to him.
“Seems like one jackass recognizes another.” Zane quipped.
I smothered a giggle as Oren stared at him, not amused in the least. He turned his attention to Mira.
“Has there been any more trouble?”
“Not here. Another Aurathion town in Oklahoma was attacked. I don’t know all the details, but my Faction will have more information for you.”Mira tilted her head toward the barn.
“Would you like to visit with the others before you go to your parents?”
“Yes, please,” I grabbed the handle to pull the big door back when Zeke appeared by my side and gently removed my hand so he could open it. I rolled my eyes.
“Thank you, Zeke, but I’m more than capable of opening this door. I’ve done it a hundred times.”
“Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should have to.” He pulled me into his arms and kissed me so thoroughly I forgot where I was for a moment.
Before I could fully recover, Zane grabbed me and kissed me as intensely as his brother. When he ended the kiss, the heat in his gaze made me take a step back.
“I told you that I wouldn’t be left out,” Zane said, kissing the tip of my nose before releasing me and joining his brother at the far end of the barn, near the large back entrance. I fanned my face.
Damn! Those Moon boys could kiss.
Oren laughingly threaded his fingers through mine.
“Those two are going to keep you on your toes. When they fully accept the fact that they're bonded and you're not going anywhere, their true selves will start to shine through. You better buckle up because it’s going to be a wild ride.”
Nathan approached and intertwined his fingers with mine on the other side. “She can manage them. After all, she tamed me, and that was no easy feat.”
“Did I, though?” I questioned. I was reasonably sure he was far from tamed.
We all went into the cool interior of the barn, and Rubbish ran straight to Jet. He tried his best to avoid him, but Rubbish
wasn’t having any of it. He ran up Jet’s leg and perched on his shoulder, chattering away.
“What’s he saying?” Jet leaned his head as far away from the raccoon as he could. I started giggling.
“He says there's some fresh chicken shit in the yard if you’re interested.”
Jet grabbed Rubbish quickly and sat him on the ground with a frown.
“I’m just messing with you. He said hi.” The guys burst out laughing, and even Jet cracked a smile.
“Very naughty, baby girl. Payback is a bitch.” He smirked at me.
It might very well be, but seeing the smile on his face was worth whatever he came up with. After the incident yesterday, I was glad to know that he would be able to move past the traumaof it. When he got to see me kick Kristine's ass in the arena, it would heal him even further.
If I were honest with myself, I needed that too.
Jack started braying, and Alfonso trotted over to his stall to greet him, along with Nathan.
Nathan had always loved the big jackass. It was probably because they were both so hard-headed. I knew that if Nathan had a spirit animal, it was Jack.
“I wonder if Oliver knows he has competition for Chloe’s affection?” Nathan scratched behind the big donkey’s ear.
“Not funny. My bestie isn’t here to defend herself.” I narrowed my eyes at him.
Before he could answer, I felt a body materialize behind me and a muscled arm clamp around my neck in a chokehold. Oren raised a hand, and sparks flew, but before he could do anything, the person behind me spoke.
