“Are you going to let him talk to me like that?” She turned to Oren.

“I’m not getting involved. I heard the commotion and came to see what was going on.” Oren said, not wanting Kristine to know about our connection. “I did hear her challenge you, though.”

“I did,” I sneered. “But I guess she’s scared. The bitch hasn’t accepted yet.”

“That’s ridiculous! No true Storm would be scared of a challenge.” He smirked at Kristine.

“I’m not scared of this weak bitch. I accept!” She fell right into Oren’s trap.

“Good, the fight will happen the last Friday before winter break.” He grabbed Kristine and led her out of the room, turning to wink at me right before he closed the door.

I waited in resignation for the yelling to begin.

Chapter 22

Zane

After Storm left with the cunt, you could’ve heard a pin drop. The silence didn’t last long.

“No.” Jet stated, staring at Reverie.

Even I knew that was a bad move. Nathan tried to warn him, but he didn’t listen.

“No?” Reverie raised a single eyebrow.

“We don’t know what her abilities are. I won’t have you put in that kind of situation.” Jet stood and ran a hand through his hair.

“Youwon’t?” Reverie asked, raising both brows this time.

“Abort the mission, soldier.” Nathan cupped a hand over his mouth but didn’t attempt to lower his voice in the least. Jet narrowed his eyes at Nathan and flipped him off.

“Let me get this straight. You’ve been spying on us for the military, never intending to become Faction or embrace your Aurathion heritage. You’ve followed us when it suited you, even blackmailed me into taking you with me to see my parents. You've insulted me at every turn and let other women touch what’s mi-”

The fool didn’t have the sense not to interrupt.

“This wasn’t my choice.”

“Thisisn’t what I’m talking about, and you know it.” Reverie motioned to the couch, where I assumed she’d found him and Kristine. Jet hung his head, but Reverie continued showing no sympathy.

“As I was saying, before you interrupted, letting women touch you, knowing you were meant to be mine. Implying that I was nothing special to you. Now, you want to tell me what to do?” She put both hands on her hips and tapped her foot.

Was it weird that I was strangely turned on by her dressing down Jet like he was a student, and she was a schoolmarm, ooh, or maybe a librarian…no, the principal? Now, I was adjusting myself. Maybe after our bonding ceremony, we could use Storm’s office to play this out again, only this time she’s wearing a pencil skirt and glasses…

“-and furthermore, you have no right…”

I’d be shirtless and glistening with sweat—because why not?

“-I will not tolerate…”

I’d bend her over my knee…wait, that’s not right…she’d bend me… no. I needed to put a little more thought into this.

“…and Zane will agree. Won’t you, Zane?” Reverie turned to me.

What? And Zane will agree withwhat? Don’t panic, you’ve got this.

“Of course I will.” I nodded. “There isn’t a shadow of a doubt… I’m in.” Stop talking, idiot! “You can count on me! I’m here for whatever you need.” Finally, I stopped with the verbal diarrhea.

The guys looked at me like I’d lost my mind, but Reverie smiled so big that both dimples were visible.
