“My Nexus is Reverie Hawthorne.” Suddenly, the Fellat started ramming her big body into the door.
I jumped back startled, but my mouth dropped open in shock when she said,“My Nexus is Adelaide Hawthorne, and you must bring me to her.”
I felt a sudden desperation to get her out of there. “Back away from the door.”
I put both hands on the door and called up my ability. Whatever the door was made from, it held up to the heat longer than anything on Earth would, but I was determined to get her out of there. I concentrated on turning up the temperature and finally, the door started melting until it was nothing but ashes.
A Fellat as big as Pantar cautiously made her way out of the prison cell. She walked up to me, sniffed the top of my head, then licked me from chin to forehead.
“What the hell?” I wiped the drool off on my sleeve.
“Come, boy, let’s find the men you came here with and empty these cages. Then you can take me to my Nexus.”She turned and headed back down the aisle.
I didn’t know why I kept referring to her as "she," but for some reason, her movements and voice made me perceive her as feminine.
No one was there when we returned to where the guys and I had parted ways. The Fellat paused and then narrowed her eyes. She sniffed the air delicately, then growled low.“One of the evil ones is here.”
At that exact moment, Hayes, Razor, and Damien materialized out of the shadows. Before I could question them about the distressed look on their faces. Beatrice walked out from behind them, dragging Taylor by the arm.
“Well, what do we have here?” Beatrice gave a tinkling laugh.
“Mira?” Hayes questioned in astonishment.
“Could this moment get any better? I finally get to dispose of this horrid beast and give Selene a reason to imprison you, only bringing you out for our pleasure,” the crazy bitch threw her head back and laughed.
I saw Razor edging closer to Beatrice, so I tried to distract her. “Taylor, what in the hell are you doing here?”
Beatrice smiled, “I saw her wondering this way and decided to follow. Imagine my surprise when I saw you three sneaking in here.”
Just when Razor was within inches of her, she turned suddenly, dragging Taylor between them. “Watch it, or I’ll kill the little twit.”
I didn’t know what her ability was, but based on how she stopped Razor in his tracks, I was certain it was strong. Razor held out his hands in surrender and moved back.
It was shocking to see these incredibly powerful men so helpless. “You’ll be happy to know you would have been too late anyway.” She smirked at the three Aurathions. “We have peoplealready in place to remove the most powerful Factions that made it through the portal.” Beatrice winked at Hayes, “You can guess who’s first on the list.” She turned to me, “Now move your sexy ass from in front of the Fellat.” Beatrice motioned to me with her free hand.
I shook my head, refusing to let this bitch hurt the Fellat and my chance to get back to Reverie.
“What a waste.” She narrowed her eyes and then pointed her hand in my direction.
Taylor’s eyes widened. Then she broke free from Beatrice’s hold and threw herself in front of me. I was shocked to hear the sound of bones breaking as Taylor collapsed onto the floor.
Hayes didn’t hesitate at Beatrice's distraction and took her head in both of his giant hands, cracking her neck with no effort at all.
I dropped beside Taylor, not knowing how to help her. Both arms and legs were at odd angles, with the bones sticking out. Blood was flowing swiftly; an artery must have been severed.
“Why did you do that?” I didn’t understand why she would sacrifice herself for me.
It was apparent she was in a lot of pain, and I had to lean closer to make out what she was saying.
“It’s my fault she was here. She promised to make me Nexus and you to be part of my Faction.” She closed her eyes and took a ragged breath. “I only ever wanted to love you.” Her head fell to the side, and she stopped breathing.
The tragedy was that I would never have been in her Faction. I’d have killed her myself first.
