“They were married for six years, he was practically a spring chicken when they met,” he laughed but quickly became serious again. “Looks like she spent most of his money before he kicked it. She’s clearly got used to the lavish lifestyle. Now we know her name was Miller, Kansas has been able to backtrack from that and follow her movements the last ten years. Bitch has always managed to land on her feet, using the way she looks and her manipulation to get guys falling at her feet.

“She hit the jackpot with Miller though, he had no kids, and a massive fortune. He got cancer, bet that thrilled her scheming ass. What she wasn’t expecting was there to be a measly five hundred grand left to her. She can barely manage to afford the house she lives in.”

“So she decided to go after Waverley and used her skills to get Nytro under her control.”

“Bingo.”

“You think she’ll help him now? If he runs to her?”

“Fuck no,” he straightened up. “He’s served his purpose, and it didn’t work out. I dunno if she’s aware it’s down to him Wave got away from her or not but even if she doesn’t, what does he have to offer her now? His club is in tatters, there is literally no one at the clubhouse. Rowena, the chick they had over there came back today, said it’s a ghost town. All the girls who were there have left. The cartel are out for their blood…” he drifted off. “The Kingsmen are done.”

“Where does that leavehim?” I pointed my thumb back at the cabin.

“King offered him a deal.”

“I knew it.”

War shrugged again. “He’s always ten steps ahead of everyone else. It’s what makes him a good Prez. I should be so lucky to be even half as good as him.”

“Did he take the deal?”

“Not yet, but after tonight, I don’t see how he can’t. If what he said is true and he actually does give a shit about his brothers.”

“What’s the offer?”

“They join us.”

“Really?” my eyes widened in shock.

“Not all of them. I mean, he’s not gonna take dead weight but he’s gonna support them having their own Chapter, Mace as Prez and their own hierarchy, not a straight swap to the Devil’s. They’d have their own set up, but Mace would report to King. He’d attend meetings here, run everything by him.”

“That’ll be a hard sell. He’s a tough bastard, from what I can tell, he didn’t really answer to Nytro.”

“But he did with Ranger. It’s about respect.”

“What makes King think they’ll be loyal to us, or even want to switch patches?” I mused.

“The choice is us or nothing. They can’t put that Kingsmen patch on again, they’ll be killed or worse. And being in an MC isn’t a lifestyle choice, you know that. It’s a way of life.”

“They have other chapters they could move to.”

“Some of them will. That’s for Mace to figure out. He’ll be responsible for anyone who backtracks or pulls some shit against us. Could be that a lot of them go, anyone who stays will be worth it, or that’s what King is hoping. He’s got the backing of the O’Connell’s.”

“What do they have to do with anything?”

War shut up then. Okay, that was a question too far. Still stung that he couldn’t tell me the rest.

“Okay, so what’s the plan now?” I asked, stifling my own yawn.

“Sleep, first. But now King knows where Danica is, Kansas got that address, he’s gonna want to move on her. Nytro can wait.”

“Is he gonna just take her out?”

“No idea, man. I got a lead on Lily, or Kristy, whatever her fucking name is. While King figures out his next move, I know where I’m going. You coming?”

“When?”

“I figure we can let the bitch have one more night on earth. King wants to use her against Danica.”
