“You didnotdrive me all the way out here so I could suck your dick in the woods.”

He arched a brow and gave me a sinful grin. I ran my fingers through the short hair at the back of his neck, scratching my nails through it, making him shiver.

“Maybe it’s something I’ve regretted for years, and right now we have the perfect opportunity to get it right.”

“Not a chance,” I tugged his hair a little.

“Hmm,” his hands moved, his fingers kneading my ass and over my thighs, his thumbs inching inwards. “Or maybe I’ll just re-enact whatIdid that day.”

He glanced up at me and for a brief moment I considered it, because the way he was looking at me had me fidgeting in his lap. He moved his hands back up to my hips, then ran one up so he could cup my face. All the humor gone from his expression.

“I swear on my fucking life, Wave. I will never let anyone hurt you again. I’ll never stop being an overprotective, overbearing, in your face asshole. I may not be able to understand every little thing you’re going through, or fix things the way you need them fixing, but you’ll never have to face anything alone.”

He shifted me closer to him and lightly ran his fingertip over my eyebrow.

“I’ll never get tired of looking into these beautiful eyes, or kissing this gorgeous mouth,” he leaned in and kissed me softly. “You’re my fucking heart, Waverley. You always have been. And that will never change, no matter what happens. There could only ever be one other woman I could love as much as I love you.”

I frowned, my heart had been melting with his words but I drew back from him, about to ask what the hell he was talking about and why he would ruin such an amazingly un-Hudson like moment. He grinned and his hand rubbed over my stomach.

“If we have a daughter.”

“Oh,” I pressed my lips together.

“Shocked the shit out of you with that one, huh?” I kept staring at him. “Might now be a good time to suggest that blow job you owe me.”

I shoved him so he fell backwards, but he kept hold of me so I fell with him, my hands on either side of his head, my hair falling down around us. He was laughing up at me and I couldn’t help but smile back.

“I love you too,” I whispered, leaning down to kiss him.

He grabbed the back of my head with one hand and my ass with the other and kissed me back. And that was how a Park Ranger found us about ten minutes later and told us to take it back home, there were kids about. He didn’t even crack a smile when Hudson told him he’d interrupted us about to make one of our own. Just told us to get the hell out of the park.

He took me home and drove us straight down to his new house, so we didn’t have to see or talk to anyone. It wasn’t furnished yet, but he took me upstairs were there was an air mattress with blankets and cushions, a handful of candles on the window ledge and some Bluetooth speakers. He must have been staying here while I was gone.

We spent the rest of the day there, he had snacks downstairs, and the heating system worked, so when it got colder later on, he turned it up to keep us warm.

We didn’t talk about Andrew, or the Kingsmen, or my mom and my aunt who had killed her. We did talk about how life would be now, and I told him what King had said. He laughed and said he wouldn’t expect an apology from me but would be grateful if I took a little more time to think about how I behaved. That got him a slap on his ass. And I couldn’t re-enact what he wanted, with us not being in the park anymore, but I reminded him I wasn’t that inexperienced girl anymore.

Hudson took care of me the best way he could, and the only way I wanted him to, by just being there.

I woke to him sitting up beside me, his hair in total disarray, bare chested, with an unlit cigarette hanging from his lips and his phone in his hand. I inhaled and stretched, then reached up and pulled the cigarette from his mouth.

“I wasn’t going to smoke it,” he said.

“Good thing,” I broke it in half and tossed it away. He didn’t argue, just went back to his phone. “What’s going on?” I asked, pulling myself up into a sitting position.

Hudson did a double take when he glanced at me, seeing me completely bare from the waist up. He shifted and adjusted his dick before drawing his eyes back to my face. I smirked at him.

“I would love to bend you over right now,” he grinned back at me. “But War needs me for something. And King needs you.”

“He does, for what?”

Hudson got up and grabbed my t-shirt. “I can’t focus while your tits are looking at me.”

“What?” I barked out a laugh, taking the t-shirt.

“They’re distracting.”

“It’s not my fault you have a one-track mind,” I pointed out.
