Ballistic let things die down a bit before he got me and Mace in a room together. He told us he didn’t want details, and he didn’t want to see anything, but made us swear we would protect his little girl. I think we proved that after what happened that night, but we agreed. Because it’s Ballistic. And he’s a scary motherfucker.
Vance’s disappearance was reported on for a few weeks. He never did pay Cara, so everyone thinks he ran away with his money. Cara was drugged and so out of it at his apartment she barely remembered the men who barged in looking for Cassie, only to find he’d kidnapped her and was planning to assault and potentially kill her.
Fortunately for her, he hadn’t managed to do anything other than drug her. The worst thing she had was a headache and little to no memory of what happened.
Some scumbags never learn.
“Still pretending your injured,” Mace slams a hand down on my shoulder. At least it’s the good one.
“Didn’t you get shot once and act like a big baby about it?”
“That didn’t happen,” he shakes his head and drinks his beer. “In fact, I took a few punches to it, courtesy of your VP.”
“Understandable though, at the time,” I add, subtly joking about him being a Kingsman back then.
“Fuck you,” he smirks. He watches Shady and Wafer for a minute. “Why are they moving it again?”
“At this point, I think Waverley is having fun with them.”
“I don’t know how Hustle handles her.”
“They’re two peas in a pod,” I laugh, then head inside leaving him to watch the calamitous moving.
We moved into the house a couple of weeks ago. It took a while to get both of them on board, but splitting our time between our three houses was getting to be a pain in the ass. Especially when neither one of us wanted to leave Cassie alone.
She was starting to get pissed at one or both of us being at her apartment, and complaining how far it was when we needed to leave to get to our separate clubhouses if something came up.
Not to mention her place was tiny, and the bed didn’t do what we needed it to. When it broke, she gave in, admitted defeat, and started looking for somewhere new.
She would be working out of wherever we moved, so it made sense for her to find what she needed. She chose a property set in its own grounds on the outskirts of Andover, a small town in between Sussex and Stroudsburg. It’s quiet and no one bothers us here but it’s not totally isolated either.
It’s taken Cassie a little while to get used to not being close to the city but she’s happy enough with the house and having us able to come and go much easier.
Work has been on the back burner for me as I recuperated. Mace jokes about it but he knows I nearly fucking died that night.
“Hey you,” Cassie comes up behind me, banding an arm around my midriff. I turn sideways and pull her into me.
“When is everyone leaving?”
“Why, are you tired?” she asks in concern.
“No, I’m not tired,” I eye her.
Her cheeks flush. It never fails to amuse me, or turn me on, when she blushes at the suggestion of us all getting naked together. We’ve taken some flack from some of the brothers’ but Mace shuts it down at his end and I ignore everyone at mine. Cassie doesn’t care one way or the other. The only people who matter don’t have a problem with it.
“Well, I am happy with where the grill is.”
“And I’m sure Waverley wants to get back to Sussex with Hudson back from New York.”
“He has been calling,” she grins.
I lean down and bite her earlobe. “Get rid of them sweetheart.” I slap her ass and she gives me a little growl but heads back outside to do what I told her. Something that has my dick hardening.
Pretty soon everyone has gone, leaving the three of us alone. Mace is finishing up a phone call while I make sure everywhere is locked up. When I turn around, Cassie is no longer in the living room.
I raise a brow at Mace and he points upward, he’ll follow us.
I’m not going to complain about getting her alone for a little while. Taking the stairs two at a time, I walk to our bedroom and pause in the doorway when I see her. She’s like a fucking dream. I can’t get over how beautiful she is, and that I get to come home to her.
