Dominic walks over, dropping his keys on the table and helps me up. I go to say something, but Eli holds up a hand.
“I need a minute, sweetheart. Go with Mace. He’ll take care of you.” He gives him a pointed look, then stands.
I love that Eli isn’t the least bit ashamed of standing naked in front of another man. I want them to like each other. They may never be close, but at least for now, they appear to understand each other and want to do what is right for me.
Dominic picks up his T-shirt and slips it over my head, then he takes my hand and we head upstairs to the master bedroom where I locked myself away. Dominic flips on the light in the bathroom. He starts up the shower and turns back, doing a slow sweep of my body.
After the revelations downstairs and the outpouring of emotion I’m not used to, I’m not sure how to react to the way he is looking at me. I’ve had sex with them both separately, but we came to a loose arrangement at his clubhouse that this is something we’re exploring. Why do I feel bad about him not being with us?
How is this ever going to work? Me wanting them both, figuring out how it works so that I get to have both of them. I sound so greedy, no one is going to understand what we’re doing.
Dominic ushers me towards the shower and I step inside the glass cubicle, watching as he strips off his own clothes. He gets in behind me and stands close. Eli told him to take care of me, is this what he meant?
Eli isn’t jealous, he’s not worried what we’re doing up here, in fact, he wanted it.
Dominic washes me, using his hands and touching my intimate parts. He’s gentle and I know how it’s affecting him, but he takes washing me seriously and I’m left oddly disappointed when he rinses us both off and turns off the shower.
The silence is killing me. I can’t talk about what Eli told me, that is his story to tell, so instead I focus on what Dominic is concerned about.
“He told me about the man who killed Marshall,” I say accepting the towel and wrapping it around myself. Dominic grabs another and uses it to dry off his chest, face and hair, before covering up the erection that hasn’t mellowed in the slightest.
“Yeah, shit is getting strange.”
He’s so different to Eli. Not emotionless, just closed off in a different way. Where Eli craves the emotion that goes along with getting close to someone, Dominic has made it clear that isn’t something he wants to give.
We’re more alike than I realized.
“Until we know what we’re dealing with, its best to be vigilant.” He glances at the open doorway. We can’t hear anything but we’re both thinking the same thing. Is Eli is okay down there.
“Hiding me away isn’t the answer. It will draw more attention, given the high-profile case I’m working on.”
“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”
“Meaning?”
“If you have to go anywhere, someone will be with you.”
“Because that is going to look normal, having a biker following me around.”
“It’s that or you don’t leave the house.”
“You’re not the one in control here, Dominic.”
He pauses in drying himself when I use his name. I like that it affects him. It gives me something of an upper hand.
He walks towards me, and I feel that power slipping with each step. “Don’t forget who I am, Cassie.”
“I’ve never bowed to King, what makes you think I’ll do it for you.”
He takes a lock of damp hair and runs it through his fingers, squeezing so water droplets splash on my chest. “I can think of a lot of reasons.”
I hate that he is getting to me. I am not allowing the sexiness of a half naked man dictate what I do.
“Where were you tonight?” I change the subject.
He cocks his head and gives a wry laugh. His meaning is clear, it’s club business. Fine. I tilt my head so he has to release my hair and walk around the bed, putting some space between us. Dominic has to be different to Eli, he has to be more like King. He leads a chapter of the MC. If he is anything like King, keeping things close to this chest is a natural instinct. Keeping them from a woman is MC law.
“It was business, but it was also a way of figuring out what I can. I met with a man Marshall introduced me to.”
