“A lot happened today.It would be understandable for you to not be fine.”
“I’ll always have a soft spot for Wheeler, but we’re not meant to be together.”
“Why?”
“Because I think I'm meant to be with you.”She stares up at me with so much raw vulnerability in her eyes.
“Good,” I growl as I pull on her foot until she slides across the couch and straight onto my lap.She lets out a loud squeal of surprise, but she makes no move to return to her side of the couch.
She pulls away long enough to straddle my lap, then her lips are on mine.Her kisses are hungry and needy.All-consuming and devouring.
“I don’t think I’ve felt this strongly about someone,” Winnie breathes against my lips as she tries to catch her breath.
She doesn’t seem to know what she wants to do with her hands.One moment she’s threading her fingers through my hair, the next she’s running them over my chest.
She seems like she can’t get enough of me and I'm loving every second of it.
Chapter 20
Winnie
“I'mnotsurethisthing is big enough for all of us.”I eye the bathtub with suspicion.“How about I just watch?”
“Winnie, get in the tub,” Jamie’s deep voice echoes through the bathroom, making me smile.
I love listening to his voice.I swear Ellie could’ve made a killing if she had Jamie narrate her audiobooks for her.
“She’s having fun without me.”I motion to Tali who’s jumping in the tub and splashing water everywhere.I have no doubt if Jamie wasn’t working hard to keep her head above water, the girl would’ve slipped under at least a dozen times by now.
“Tali?Do you want Winnie to get in with us?”Jamie smirks as he talks to Tali.We both know what she’s going to say.
“Win-Win!In!”She splashes the water again and stares up at me expectantly.
“You don’t play fair,” I grumble under my breath as I strip off my sweatshirt and leggings, leaving me in only a bikini.
“Holy crap,” Jamie murmurs, his eyes caressing my body.“If this is what I win every time, I’m never playing fair again.”
“Shush.”I slip under the water and splash water towards him, but Tali has already soaked him so he doesn’t care.
“After this little girl gets tired out, do you want me to show you some workouts?”
My brows furrow together as I stare at Tali.I don’t want to meet Jamie’s gaze.Is he asking me because he’s realizing I could lose some weight?
“What’s going through your head, Win?”He asks slowly.
“Why do you want to workout?”
“C’mon, baby.That’s not at all what I was implying.”He squeezes his eyes shut and shakes his head.“Win, you’re stunning.I absolutely love your body.You don’t need to change a thing about you.”
“Then why?”
“Because you brought up wanting to go to the gym the day we met, but you said you didn’t know what you were doing.I’ve been working on a plan for you and I asked my athletic trainer to look it over today and he said it was a solid workout.I wanted to help you before I start traveling so you could workout while I was away if you wanted something to keep you busy after Tali goes to bed.”
“You really made a plan for me?”I ask softly.
“Yeah, I’ve been working on it for the last two weeks.You can’t possibly think I don’t love your body.You’re perfect, Win.I wish you could see yourself the way I see you.”
He tugs me closer and presses his lips to mine.Tali’s pinned between us, but she doesn’t seem to mind one bit.
