It’s in the way she moves that her true emotions are hidden. She’s either been severely hurt and has done a good job at protecting herself, or she’s just blind to it. Either way, it’s remarkable. Everyone has some type of tell. Maybe a leg shake, clenching of the hands, or even biting the inside of their cheek or lip. And yet, she seems to have none, at least not one her body gives away.
“Yes, I guess it is,” I finally reply, answering her question.
“Thank you. I think.”
The car slows down and then comes to a stop. She turns her head away, and I immediately miss her eyes on me. My hand slides into my pocket, and I clench the beads as I imagine what they would be like wrapped around her pretty neck as I fuck her.
As she opens the car door, she leaves her purse on the seat, only taking her phone with her. The driver gets out at the same time she opens her door, and I take that opportunity to reach into her purse and take her wallet, sliding it into my pocket. I then get out and join her.
She’s dressed for business—that was the first thing I noticed when I saw her standing in line at the coffee shop. A tight skirt that stops at her knees with a slit at the back, and a blouse that accentuates her curves in all the right places. Her hair is tied back in a neat bun, the kind I want to pull and make her submit to me.
I wonder if she would, or if she’d fight me.
The thought of finding out makes my cock twitch with anticipation.
Fuck, I need to get laid.
Scrubbing a hand down my face, I walk next to her, sliding my sunglasses back over my eyes so she can’t see the way my gaze drags all over her.
Cora offers me the slightest smile before she turns her attention to the entrance of the building. When she reaches the door, someone opens it, and her demeanor immediately changes. She goes from being cold with me to warm with him. Interesting. She leans in and wraps her arms around his neck, and he places his hands a little too low on her waist for my liking.
Should I kill him? Possibly. If he doesn’t fucking remove his hands, that is.
I step back. What the fuck was that? And why am I suddenly being possessive over her?
She keeps the embrace brief, then says something in a low voice before both of them turn to face me.
“Hi, I’m Sebastian. Nice to meet you.” He offers me his hand, but I don’t take it. “All right, let’s show you inside.” He shoots a glance at Cora, apparently skeptical of me. Good, he should be. Cora looks at me, and I wave for her to go in first, and I follow behind her.
“As you can see from the outside, there is a large garage that can hold up to thirty cars. There is also an oversized concrete pad at the back of the building that is hidden from view on all sides, which a lot of past tenants used for parking. So the possibilities for using the space as you please are endless,” Sebastian informs me.
I look to Cora, who is smiling at Sebastian as he talks.
“Is he your friend?” I ask her, barely listening to him, and he coughs.
“Yes. What do you think of the space?” She keeps the conversation on track and professional.
Smart girl.
“I’ll take it,” I announce.
Her eyes go wide, and she turns to Sebastian.
“You’ll take it?” he asks.
I nod, keeping my gaze on her. “Now, can we get lunch?” I ask.
She checks her watch before replying, “I have a meeting at one.”
“Okay, then let’s go.” I don’t bother thanking or even saying goodbye to Sebastian.
I’d rather Cora not be around him while she’s with me.
FIVE
CORA
“I’m sorry about that, but I do think this deal will go through,” I say to Sebastian just as I hear the door open. When I glance over my shoulder, Arlo is standing there, looking intimidating, as he waits for me to finish up.
