When we walked in, a couple of people glanced up, but most everyone was staring down into their coffee cups. Served them right. It was early as hell. If I had to be miserable, they did, too.

Sal sat me in my chair and then went to get me tea. I'd been banned from having coffee or any other drink that had caffeine in it.

Spoilsports.

“How are you feeling this morning, Lany?” Skip asked as he breezed into the room, Wu slowly trailing after him.

“If you're asking about my injuries, I feel fine. If you're asking if I want to be up right now, I'll let you guess.”

Skip chuckled. “I don't know what you all have against mornings. It's nice watching the sunrise.”

I snorted. “Says you.”

Pretty sure most of us were feeling yesterday.

I glanced around the table with a bit of curiosity. “Not everyone is here. Are the others going to show up today?”

“Jerry had some stuff to deal with at the office,” Burke stated. “Clarke and Lyn will be here just as soon as they drop CJ off at your mother's place, Crenshaw called this morning to say he was picking some papers up from his office, and I'm pretty sure Detective Sparks is running for the hills.”

I would be.

“Where's Joe?”

Officer Joseph Santiago had taken over the tech position when Lyn resigned and went to work for the FBI's Cyber Crimes Division. I wasn't as close to him as I was to the others on Sal's team. Might have something to do with the fact that he was the only one married to a woman, and she didn't like me for some reason.

I had no idea why.

“He said he'd be here after he dropped his kids off at school,” Burke said as he glanced at his watch. “Which doesn't start for another hour.”

Yeah, it was that early.

I set Lany's tea down in front of him and then sat down in my chair. I knew Mrs. Martinez was cooking breakfast, but I needed caffeine right now, or I'd never make it to my office. Lany was right. It was too damn early.

I took a sip of my coffee before reaching over to push Lany's hair back behind his ear. “It's getting a little long.”

Lany was apparently awake enough to smile at me. “I thought you liked it long.”

Oh, I did.

Probably shouldn't be having the erotic thoughts that instantly filled my head while I was sitting at the breakfast table, but the image of Lany sitting on me and his hair sliding along my skin as he rode me wouldn't leave my mind.

I covertly reached down and adjusted my thickening cock. I narrowed my eyes at Lany when he smirked at me. He knew exactly what was going on, the little bugger.

When Clarke and Lyn walked in a few minutes later, I glanced down so my second-in-command wouldn't see the amusement on my face. The man looked like road kill. His hair was in disarray, his eyes were red, and he had wrinkles pressed into one side of his face.

He'd obviously had a bad night on the couch.

Served him right.

I gestured to the left side of the room. “Coffee is on the sideboard.”

“Oh, thank god.” Clarke stumbled in that direction.

Lyn rolled his eyes as he made his way over to the chair next to Lany. “How are you feeling?”
