"I missed you?" They didn't get to see each other nearly enough. It had been too dangerous. Either his father or his brother or one of their many minions were always watching.
Luca's shoulders slumped as he rubbed a hand over his face. "I missed you, too, Randal."
He didn't seem like it.
"Do you want me to go?"
Luca's head snapped up. "No!"
Randal jumped back at the abrasive tone. Luca had only ever spoken to him in calm, gentle tones, almost as if he understood that Randal got yelled out constantly at home and wanted to give him some peace. Randal didn't like the fact that the man was yelling at him now.
He glanced at the door. "I should go."
"Randal, what's going on?"
"Um..."
"Randal."
"So, I got into a bit of trouble and—"
"Is that why you haven't been by to see me?" Luca walked over until they stood next to each other and then reached up to press his hand to Randal's cheek.
Randal groaned at the simple touch and leaned into it. "I really missed you."
A smile curved up the corners of Luca's lips. "I missed you, too, mate. I was worried about you when I didn't hear from you, but I had no one I could call to see if you were okay."
"You can call me now." Randal swallowed tightly as he looked into Luca's green eyes. "I mean, if you want to. I won't get into trouble anymore if you do."
"What about your father and brother?"
They both knew those two were the biggest threat to their mating.
"Alpha Rob banished my father and brother, so there's nothing they can do." Randal wasn't so sure about that last part. He was pretty sure his father would be enraged if he ever learned Luca was his mate. It was like a double whammy. He was human and he was a man, two things Randal's father had always said he could never have.
Hopefully, he'd never find out.
Luca's eyebrows lifted. "Your father and brother were banished?"
Randal nodded.
"Why?"
Randal winced. "That's kind of why I am in trouble. My father made me kidnap the alpha mate, except I took Erik instead because I knew kidnapping the alpha mate was a really bad idea, but Erik is Jeb's mate and—"
Luca glanced toward the closed door. "Enforcer Jeb? That Jeb? You kidnapped his mate?"
"Yes," Randal whispered.
"Why would you do that?"
"Because my father made me and I figured if I kidnapped Erik, I could let him go and get him away from my father and brother, only—"
Oh man, this was so hard.
"Only what?" Luca asked.
"They caught us before I could get Erik back to the hotel. I told Erik to run while I tried to stop my father and brother, and he did. He went and got help, which is why they got banished."
