Luca's heart broke when there was no response.

He continued to hold Randal's hand until Rob came back into the room with a dishrag and a bowl of water. "This was all I could find."

Luca took the bowl and rag. After dipping the rag in the warm water, he gently stroked it over Randal's face. He was able to clean the blood away, and thankfully no more showed up, but it did nothing for the bruising.

He wasn't sure what to do about the rest of Randal's body.

"I got the door, Rob," Jeb said as he walked in carrying it. "How do you want to do this?"

Rob grabbed a blanket off the bed and spread it over the door before placing it on the floor next to Randal. "Okay, one of you needs to pull Randal toward you so I can scoot this under him. Luca, no matter how we do this, it's going to hurt, so be prepared for that."

Luca pressed his lips together so hard, they hurt. He nodded because speech was beyond him at this point. He didn't want to cause Randal one more second of misery, but he knew he needed to in order to get him help.

"Should we do something about his arm before we move him?" Jeb asked. "If it heals that way, they're going to need to break it again so it will heal properly."

Luca started looking around for something they could use to brace Randal's arm. His gaze settled on a chair. It was made of wood and had long slats going up and down the back. He pointed. "Would that work?"

"It just might." Rob walked over to the chair and picked it up before ripping the wooden sides off with his bare hands. "Tear strips off the sheet, Jeb. We need to be able to tie his arm to these slats."

It tore Luca's heart in two to watch Jeb and Rob straighten Randal's arm and secure it to the slats. He had no doubt if Randal had been awake, he would have been screaming in agony right now.

"When you find out who did this, I want five minutes alone with them." He might be human, but he could still do a whole hell of a lot of damage in five minutes.

"Isn't that revenge thing what you've been protesting against so much?" Rob asked.

Luca glared. He hated that the alpha was right. "Then I want them brought to justice. Shifter justice."

"That I can promise you."

Luca nodded, knowing that that would have to be good enough.

"Okay, Luca, Jeb, pull Randal toward you so I can shove this door under him."

Luca hated doing as the alpha ordered, but he was right. It would take all of them to get Randal down the stairs and outside. They also needed to do it with the least amount of jostling. Randal could have internal injuries they knew nothing about.

It took a bit of effort, and Luca had tears in his eyes by the time they were done, but they got Randal onto the door. "Now what?" Luca asked.

"Jeb, go find Harvey. We're going to need his help."

Jeb got up and walked out of the room without saying a word.

"Are you a top, bottom, or switch?"

Luca's head snapped back. "Excuse me?"

Had Rob just asked what Luca thought he did?

"Harvey and Dwayne switch things up in the bedroom and they are double claimed. Casey is strictly a bottom so we are not double claimed. I'm not sure how things go between Erik and Jeb."

"And you want to know this why?" This was the strangest—and possibly most uncomfortable—conversation Luca had ever had.

"Harvey and Dwayne have a telepathic link because they are double bonded."

Luca's jaw dropped.

"You can't double bond in a heterosexual mating. It only happens with same-sex matings."

"And we both have to...uh..."
