"Don't you want to see Randal?" Casey asked.

Desperately.

"Yes, I do, very much so, but even if I don't agree with what Jeb did, it is still his right to seek restitution for what Randal did. That's clan law and I refuse to break it, so thank you, gentlemen, but I'm afraid I have to refuse."

Erik chuckled as he glanced toward the open doorway. "I told you he wouldn't do it."

Luca frowned when Jeb appeared in the doorway. Had he been set up?

"Fine, you were right," Jeb said. "Can we go now?"

Erik grinned as he bounced on his toes. "Yep."

"What's going on here?" Luca asked as he glanced between the two men.

Jeb rolled his eyes. "My mate has convinced me of the fact that I might have gone a little overboard when seeking restitution that was rightly his."

A little?

"So, we're going to go pick Randal up and bring you both back here. You still can't claim each other for the original stated time period, but you'll be allowed to be together, with a guard, of course."

Luca would take it.

"Thank you."

Jeb turned to look at his mate. "Now, can I sleep in my own bed?"

Erik smiled as he sauntered over to his mate and pecked him on the lips. "I'll think about it," he said before walking past Jeb and out of the room.

He was barely out of the room before Rob stepped in. "Well?"

Jeb rolled his eyes. "He's going to think about it."

Rob chuckled as he held his hand out to Casey. "Sucks to be you, dude."

Luca wasn't sure it was appropriate for an enforcer to glare at his alpha the way Jeb was glaring at Rob, but he wasn't going to mention it. Not now when they were going to get his mate.

He quickly stood. "Thank you again for this, Jeb. I know you didn't have to do it."

"I did if I want any chance of sleeping in my own bed tonight."

Luca winced. "He was really going to make you sleep on the couch?"

"Oh no, we've moved beyond the couch. He wasn't going to allow me into our bedroom."

Yikes.

"Is that a bear shifter thing?"

"No." Rob chuckled as he hugged Casey. "It's a stubborn mate thing."

"I don't know if Randal is stubborn or not." Luca could hope not.

Well, maybe a little.

Jeb frowned. "You don't know?"

Luca shook his head. "We were never together for more than a few minutes. We couldn't say more than a couple of words to each other. It wasn't safe. We could barely acknowledge that we knew each other. If people had found out we were mates, they would have killed us."
