"Then can I have wedding cheesecake?"
I grinned before planting a kiss on Dalton's lips. "You can have anything you want, Mr. Lancaster. Anything at all."
In that case, I'll take a kiss with my cheesecake."
Chapter Eighteen
~ Andrew ~
I smiled as I hung up the phone with my lawyer. Not only had my alimony payments to Madeline been stopped, but a financial forensic specialist was looking into her finances and where she may have been spending her money since our divorce. Current working theory was that she was the one who'd sold information about me to Brasov.
She was currently in jail for trying to assault me and Ivan at Esquires while the police investigated her involvement with Brasov. Finally, someone was listening to me when I said she was a money grubbing bitch.
I was just glad she was finally out of my hair.
I glanced up and then smiled when my office door opened. "Hey, get it all settled?"
Dalton nodded as he sat down in the chair across from me. "I was really glad the police found my stuff and I got it back, but man, unpacking sucks."
"Did you find a place to put everything?"
Dalton nodded again. "I didn't really need any of the furniture and a bunch of the towels and dishes and stuff, so I gave that all to Cam, Clarke, and Donny. Even if your bosses are giving them an apartment to live in, they still need to furnish it. I hope that's okay."
"Yes, of course. It's fine. Keep what you want and give them what you don't."
Dalton shrugged. "Your stuff is nicer than mine."
"Your stuff now, too, Mr. Lancaster. Your name is on the lease right next to mine."
Dalton chuckled as he dropped his head back to stare up at the ceiling. "It's still weird every time someone calls me Mr. Lancaster."
"You didn't have to take my name, you know."
"I wanted to." Dalton lowered his head back down and looked straight at me. "I'm not Didi anymore. I'm Mr. Dalton Lancaster."
I wasn't sure I'd ever tell Dalton how pleased I was when he decided to take my name. It had been a month since everything came to a head and we were still learning to work around each other, but our commitment to our marriage seemed to grow stronger each day.
I couldn't ask for more than that.
"Your classes start tomorrow. Are you excited?"
After giving up dancing, Dalton had decided to go to school to get a degree. I fully supported that, although I still hoped to see him dance on occasion.
Dalton grimaced. "I think I'm scared more than anything. Attending a university is a lot different than dancing on a stage."
"You can do it."
I had no doubt of it.
"You're still going to help me study for my exams, right?"
"I will, and the good news is that you won't have to buy any law books for research. I probably have them already."
Dalton snorted. "I've seen the prices of some of those law books. That'll save us a lot of money."
"Are you still sure you want to go to school to be a paralegal? We can look into a dance school if you want."
I loved the idea of Dalton getting a paralegal degree and then working with me in the office. Hell, I just plain out loved the idea of having Dalton by my side every day.
