I had no idea where we were going, so I just stuck close to Andrew. When he started walking, I started walking. Everyone else seemed to know where they were going.

"Oh my," I whispered when we reached the rooftop terrace. The view of the bay and the cityscape beyond was stunning. "This is really something."

"It's better at night when all the lights are shining," Andrew said. "I'll bring you sometime. Maybe when we have that date."

"I thought this was our date."

"No, this is our wedding luncheon. When we go on a date, it will just be the two of us. It's hard to be romantic when you're surrounded by your employers."

I chuckled despite the sheer panic knotting in my gut. "I'd like that."

"Andrew!"

"Oh shit," Andrew whispered as he turned.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"See that statuesque blonde storming toward us?"

"Yes."

"That's my ex-wife."

Oh shit.

"Why aren't you answering my phone calls, Andrew?" the woman asked.

"I told you that all further communications between us would have to go through my lawyer, Madeline. You shouldn't even be talking to me right now."

"Don't be ridiculous, Andrew. I don't want to talk to that idiotic lawyer of yours." She started pulling her white gloves off. "He never shuts up. I think he just likes to listen to himself talk."

I almost snorted. He could take lessons from this woman.

"Madeline—"

"We must talk about the alimony, Andrew. If you won't loan me the money I need, then we're simply going to have to increase how much alimony you give me. I simply cannot go to Aruba without a new wardrobe. It would be embarrassing to say the least to show up in last year’s clothes. I would never be able to show my face again."

Andrew's eyes rolled dramatically. "Madeline, we are not going to change the alimony, and I am not going to loan you any more money. Now, if you don't mind, my friends are waiting."

"Andrew, I insist that we talk about this."

"No, Madeline."

When Andrew started to turn, I saw the woman raise her hand into the air. I quickly reached out and grabbed her wrist. "I don't fucking think so." I gave her a little push and then stepped between her and Andrew. "You lay a hand on him and I'll lay your whoring ass out."

Madeline gasped. "How dare you talk to me like that. Do you have any idea who I am?"

"A money-grubbing bitch from hell who was too stupid to see what a wonderful man Andrew is?"

I was just guessing here.

Madeline shrieked and stomped her high-heeled foot. "Are you going to let him talk to me like that, Andrew?"

I smiled when I felt an arm wrap around my waist.

"Yes, I think I am. He seems to be doing a pretty good job at it."

Madeline's eyes narrowed. "Who are you?"
