"Phone, need to answer the phone."
"I'll get it, Andrew." I finished buttoning up the shirt and then reached into his suit jacket to pull the phone out. I didn't recognize the phone number, but this wasn't my phone so that made sense.
I slid my finger across the screen and then held the phone to my ear. "Hello?"
"Hello, Didi."
I swallowed tightly, the fear flooding me colder than the chill in the air. "Mr. Brasov."
How had he gotten Andrew's phone number?
Chapter Eleven
~ Dalton ~
"You have ten minutes to get your ass back to my office, or Cam will pay the consequences."
"Don't hurt him," I said. "I'll be there."
I didn't want to go.
I so didn't want to go, but I couldn't allow Cam to be hurt.
I hung up on Brasov and stared down at the screen for a moment, unsure of what to do. I knew I had to go back, but I didn't like the idea of leaving Andrew on his own in his condition.
"Fuck!" I jerked when the phone vibrated in my hand and my heart climbed into my throat.
The name Knox came across the screen so I swiped my finger over it and then held the phone to my ear again. "Hello?"
"Who is this?"
"Dalton."
"Let me speak to Lancaster."
"Lancaster?"
"Andrew Lancaster? This is his phone."
"Oh, right." I glanced toward the backseat of the SUV. Andrew's head was resting against the back of the seat, and his eyes were closed. I wasn't even sure if he was awake. "He can't come to the phone at the moment. Kirk put something in his drink, and he's pretty out of it."
"Yes, I know. You messaged me, remember?"
I knew that.
"Where are you?" Knox asked.
"We're at Sergei's SUV over on Ninth Street, but I have to go, and I don't want to leave Andrew here by himself. Can you come get him?"
"Where's Sergei?"
That was the big question.
"He went with Clark to get Cam out of the hidden room in Brasov's office, but I don't think that's what happened. Brasov just called me on Andrew's phone and told me to get back or he'd hurt Cam."
"Cam?"
"I wasn't the only one Brasov was holding prisoner. My friend Cam is being held in the back room."
