Lex groaned as he leaned back in his chair and rubbed his stomach. "I love Eggs Benedict, but I probably shouldn't have added the hash browns and sausage. I may explode."
Tony chuckled. "I have to admit, the food here is pretty damn good."
"Told ya." It had taken all his persuasive words to convince Tony to go to the little hole-in-the-wall diner rather than one of the major chain restaurants. He loved this place. It didn't look like much on the outside, just a simple door and a small sign hanging above it. All the real action was on the inside where the aroma of home-cooked food floated through the air just waiting to be inhaled.
It was one of those places that you only knew about if you already knew about it or someone told you. Advertising was done by word of mouth. Strangely enough, they did a huge amount of business. Sometimes, there was even a waiting line to get in.
"How'd you find this place?"
"I used to come here when I was attending Georgetown University. The apartment I shared with my roommates is just down the street."
"I didn't know you'd attended Georgetown."
Lex nodded. "Business degree with a minor in political science."
Tony's eyebrows lifted. "And you're working as a personal assistant?"
"I tried the traditional route, but I was ready to murder my coworkers inside of a week. I decided working for one person suited me better. It allows my OCD tendencies to be used for good instead of evil."
"Not to mention your need for control."
Lex grinned. "There was that."
He was still a bit shocked that Tony had allowed him to dominate him. Tony seemed pretty damn toppy. He looked pretty damn toppy. He was only a few inches taller than Lex, but the width of his shoulders was huge. He definitely had more muscle mass.
"Personal assistants like me are usually only used by people who can afford us. I could probably retire right now and live a relatively easy life for the rest of my days if I wanted to. I'd just be bored to death."
"I do okay with my garage. I bought it from a friend a couple of years ago when his other job took up more of his time. I'm still making payments, but the place is all mine. I don't imagine I make as much as you do, but I'm happy."
"If you work hard for your money and you're not robbing banks, you should be proud of yourself."
Tony smiled. "I am."
"Money is not the be all, end all of the world, Tony." Lex winked at Tony. "It just makes the living a little easier."
Tony nodded. "True."
"There are a lot of other things more important." Lex stretched his foot out and rubbed it along Tony's leg. "Why don't you come back to my place and I can show you some of those things?"
"Don't take this the wrong way, but why aren't you more freaked out over someone breaking into your place?"
"Oh, believe me, I'm plenty freaked, but there's not a whole lot I can do about it at the moment. The police took a report, and I had my locks changed. Unless this bozo breaks in again, there's nothing I can do."
"Do you think he will?"
Lex shrugged. "He sent me red roses. At least, I assume it was the same person who sent the roses. If it wasn't, I may need to move, because apparently, I attract the crazies."
"Maybe you should."
Lex shook his head. "I'm not going to let some obsessed moron force me out of my home." He loved that apartment. It was in just the right neighborhood. Gay friendly, plenty of little places to visit and hang out, and an easy commute to the capitol. He didn't want to move.
"How about you come stay with me for a couple of weeks? You could consider it a vacation."
Lex shook his head again. "As much as I like the sound of that, I have two interviews the day after tomorrow that I can't miss."
A grimace crossed Tony's face. "You're actually going to stay here, aren't you?"
Lex blinked. "I just said I was."
