"You didn't join your pride because you were stalking me?"
"You're my mate."
I smiled as something I hadn't felt in a very long time ignited deep in my soul.
Hope.
"Yes, I am," I whispered.
Stalker stared at me for what seemed to be an eternity before slowly returning my smile. "I've waited a long time to hear that."
"You knew it before. We both did, but…" My gaze went to Tommy. "I had to stay because of him."
"I know."
I glanced up when Stalker's knuckles grazed my cheek. "I never faulted you for that, Jojo. I told you that. Tommy is your son."
I swallowed tightly, the magnitude of what I was about to say creating a lump in my throat. "He could be your son, too."
Stalker's smile grew wider. "I think I'd like that."
Chapter Seven
I pushed open the door of the guest suite then stepped back so Jojo and Tommy could enter. Once they were inside, I stepped in and closed the door.
"It's not much right now," I explained when Jojo just stood there in the middle of the room and glanced around. "Once the wall comes down, we can make any modifications you want."
A wrinkle creased Jojo's forehead. "Wall?"
"Oh." I chuckled as I gestured to the wall between my suite and this one. "My suite is right next door. Sinclair wanted to make sure Tommy had enough room to play so he said we could take down the wall between the two suites and make it one big place for the three of us."
"Why?"
I shrugged. "I wanted you to stay. I wanted you to know that you and Tommy were wanted here."
Jojo stared at me so long, I started to feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. I reached back and rubbed at them. "It was just an idea."
"Is there a room where I can lay Tommy down?"
"Oh, yeah, it's right over here." I walked over to the small hallway and opened the door to the larger of the two bedrooms. I'd chosen this one for Tommy because I was really hoping Jojo would share mine. "It's not much right now, but Bob knows of this place that does one-day delivery."
"It's good, Stalker." Jojo walked over to the bed then lifted Tommy up onto it. He pulled the kid's shoes off and set them on the floor next to the nightstand.
"Here." I rushed over to grab the blankets and pull them down.
I didn't even have to say anything. Tommy crawled over and climbed under the covers. I stepped back out of the way then watched as Jojo leaned down and pressed a kiss to Tommy's forehead.
"I'll be right in the other room, okay?" Jojo asked.
Tommy nodded. His eyes were already drooping. I knew it wouldn't be long until sleep pulled him under.
"Sleep well, Tommy," I said from the bottom of the bed. "I'll keep you and your father safe, so it's okay to dream."
I had no idea why I said that, but the smile that came to Tommy's face right before he closed his eyes made it not matter why. The smile was enough.
I followed Jojo out of the room and pulled the door almost all the way closed. I wanted to leave it open just a crack in case Tommy woke up.
"Would you like a drink?" I asked Jojo as we walked back into the living room. "I can go grab something from my place."
