Right.

Will sent Terry and Jonny a wave. “Thanks for all your help.”

Hector kept up a steady pace as they walked through the emergency room to the corridor beyond. Will had to hurry to keep up. His legs weren’t nearly as long as Hector’s. When they slowed to a normal pace, Will glanced at Hector.

“Shouldn’t we be dealing with these guys following us instead of going to get blood tests?” he asked. It seemed kind of important.

“No.”

When Hector didn’t say anything else, Will stopped walking and then waited for Hector to realize he had stopped. When the man turned toward him, one eyebrow raised, Will almost wished he’d kept his mouth shut, but he still needed to know.

“I don’t understand, Hector. We’re obviously being chased by someone, and yet you’re acting like nothing is going on. Aren’t you worried?”

Will was.

Hector let out a long breath before pulling Will to the side of the hallway so they weren’t in anyone’s way. Will almost jerked back from the hand Hector raised to his face, but stopped himself at the last moment.

Hector spoke in a low tone, almost a whisper. “Listen, baby, am I worried about these men following us? Yes. Am I going to let it stop us from getting blood tests so we can go home and I can pound you into the mattress again? Hell, no.”

Oh, well, when put like that…

“Come on.” Will grabbed Hector’s hand and started back down the corridor, moving fast. He could hear Hector laughing as he pulled him through the hallway. He didn’t care. He wanted to make sure they got to the clinic and got their blood tests before anything else happened.

He could already feel his body tightening, aching. What he’d experienced at Hector’s hands the previous night had been unlike anything he’d ever felt before. He wanted to experience it again. He wanted Hector’s hands back on his body, and he’d fight anyone who got in the way of that happening.

“Whoa.” Hector chuckled. “Slow down, Speed Buggy. We’re here.”

Will stopped so suddenly that Hector plowed right into him. He took a step to keep from falling flat on his face then glanced around. There wasn’t really much to see. Some chairs sat along the wall and a check-in counter sat opposite them.

“This is it?” He might have worked as a paramedic, but he'd never actually been to the clinic. He hadn't worked for the ambulance service that long.

Hector pointed to the sign hanging from the ceiling. “This is the lab.”

“Oh.”

Hector smiled as he turned toward the counter, tugging on Will’s hand. “Come on, tesoro. We need to check in.”

Will bit his bottom lip as he followed Hector over to the counter. He’d never done anything like this before. He had no idea how it was done.

“Hi,” Hector said as they reached the counter. “We’d like to get some blood tests done.”

The nurse behind the counter didn’t even look up. Just handed Hector a couple of clipboards. “Fill these out. Someone will be with you shortly.”

Hector grabbed the clipboards and walked over to the chairs against the far wall. Will sat down next to him and took the one he held out. He frowned as he looked down at it. There were a lot of personal questions on it.

“Do we have to answer all of these?”

“Just answer the ones you can, Will.”

Will grabbed the pen attached by a string and started filling in what he could. There really wasn’t much. His sexual history was rather dismal. He was kind of hoping, with these blood tests, he could change that.

When he was all done, he paused at one question that he wasn’t sure how to answer. “Hector?” he whispered. “How do I answer this question? I don’t know if I was arrested for solicitation or not.”

“You weren’t.”

“So I don’t mark the little box?”

Hector glanced over then shook his head. “No, you don’t mark the box. You’ve never been arrested for solicitation.”
