Clausen's eyes narrowed, and he glared at Elijah for a moment before looking back at Terry. "Please continue."
"That's it."
"That's it?" Clausen asked.
Terry nodded. "I told him we could still be friends and if he wanted to go out for a beer as friends, that would be fine, but I wasn't going to date him."
"And you don't want to date him because…"
Terry's eyes rounded. "Because I'm already dating someone."
Hadn't he already said that?
"Is that everything, Mr. Iverson?"
"Yeah, that's pretty much it. The night he kissed me was the first time I'd actually met Will. That night and the next day when I told him we couldn't date are the only two times I've ever spoken to Will."
"You've never been to his house?"
"I don't even know where he lives," Terry insisted.
"So, you've never been to his house. How about calling him?"
Terry shook his head. "Like I said, the only two times we've spoken was the night I drove him home and the next day." Terry almost snapped his fingers when he remembered something. "Ask Jonny. He was there when I met Will and then the next day when I told Will we couldn't see each other."
Clausen's eyebrows rose. "You have a witness to your conversation with Mr. Jacks?"
"The first time, when I actually met Will, Jonny and Jamie were both there. It was just me and Will when he asked me out and kissed me. Jonny saw me talking to Will the next day, but I don't think he heard what we were talking about. When he asked what we were talking about, I told him Will was just asking about Cade Creek. I didn't want to embarrass him."
Now, Terry wondered if that had been stupid on his part.
"And this is?"
"Jonny Bozeman," Elijah supplied. "Jamie Kent is Mr. Jacks' partner in the ambulance."
"Okay." Clausen stared down at his tablet for a minute before looking at Terry. "I have a few more things to look into before I submit my findings to the ethics board. During that time, you are to have no contact with Mr. Jacks. Do you understand this?"
"Yes, but—"
Elijah shook his head.
"But what, Mr. Iverson?" Clausen asked.
"Nothing."
Clausen stared for a moment more before placing his tablet back in his bag and standing. "Someone will be in touch concerning the board's decision in a few days."
"I'll walk you to the door," Dan said as he stood and started for the front door.
Terry waited until Dan had let the man out before turning to look at Elijah. "What the hell, Elijah?"
"Jack called me and asked me to represent you," Elijah said. "He was pretty sure you wouldn't think of retaining an attorney."
"I didn't know I needed one."
"You do." Elijah squinted. "You do understand the levity of this situation, don't you?"
"This situation is insane. That's what it is." Terry pushed a hand through his hair until Dan sat down next to him again, and then he reached down and grabbed the man's hand.
