Terry's chest felt heavy. This was most likely the death knell of anything he'd wanted to start with Dan. The guy was a DEA agent. He couldn't be associated with someone accused of sexual misconduct. It wouldn't look good on his record.

And it wasn't like they had been together for years and years. They had nothing to build on. Two days did not make a relationship. It barely made a date.

Terry walked over and sat down on the couch. He felt as if his entire world was coming to an end. He loved being a paramedic. Granted, there were times when he wondered if he needed to try something else, but that was usually after a bad night at work. He never truly considered it.

Until now.

Terry sighed as he dropped head to the back of the couch. Maybe he'd see if Gus needed any help down at Fletcher Feed and Seed for a few days. He could work in back at the loading dock. No one would even have to know he was there.

"Hey, you didn't come back to bed."

Terry winced as he raised his head and looked across the room at Dan. The man was fully dressed—complete with gun and holster strapped to his shoulder and chest—so he must be getting ready for work.

"Yeah," Terry said slowly, not sure what to say. "I just had some things to think about."

Dan's brow furrowed. "About us?"

"No!" Terry winced when Dan's eyes rounded. "No," he said a little quieter. "Just some stuff from work." Terry stared hard as Dan sauntered closer. God, even walking the man was hot.

It so wasn't fair.

Dan sat down on the coffee table right in front of Terry then leaned forward and rested his hands on Terry's knees. "What's wrong, Terry? Did something happen at work?"

"Yeah," Terry whispered. "Something happened at work."
