It was creepy.
The moment he sat down at his desk a few minutes later, Gabriel pulled the keyboard closer. After punching in some of the information he had memorized, Gabriel sat back and waited for the results to appear. A few moments passed that felt like an eternity to him before he heard the distinctive chime of the computer as the search completed. His hands were clammy from nerves as he reached for the mouse and clicked the button to display the information.
Gabriel caught his breath when the names of one of his brother’s parents pop up on the screen. Scanning the rest of the information, his eyes landed on his brother’s adoptive name. Gabriel’s throat clogged up with emotion.
I found my brother.
He sat there staring at the screen for a few moments before typing his brother’s adoptive name into the system. Gabriel had this weird feeling inside him, something he had never experienced before. It was almost like something was crawling under his skin and was anxious to get out.
Gabriel remembered that while talking to Aldrik, he had explained that this kind of feeling was Gabriel’s panther communicating with him. He just had no idea what his panther was trying to tell him.
Gabriel startled when the computer chimed for the second time. Even though he was feeling nervous and scared, Gabriel knew he had to find his brother. Both of their lives depended on him. Clicking the button on the screen with his mouse, Gabriel brought up the report.
Gabriel gaped. He couldn’t believe it. He sat there staring at the information, trying to put it all together. All these years…all these years, and his brother lived in the next town over. Gabriel memorized the address, erased the information, and quickly shut down his computer.
As he got up from his desk, Gabriel noticed his supervisor approaching him. Before Mr. Peterson could say anything, Gabriel interrupted. “I’ve got to step out. I have a family emergency.” Quickly he rushed out of the building then down the street toward the bookstore. He needed to let Aldrik know that he had located Dominic and find out what they would do next.
Gabriel knew what he wanted to do. He wanted to meet his brother.
