No one was more surprised than him when it stuck the guy in the chest. Just for good measure, Gabriel swung his leg up and kicked the guy in the chest, driving the knife in even further. The fucker had stabbed him. He deserved what he got.

Gabriel spun, ready to take on the next guy, only to find they were all either dying or dead. Dom and Aldrik were leaning against the entrance to the kitchen, both men disheveled and covered in bruises and blood.

“Are you hurt, baby?” Chay asked as he hurried over to him.

Gabriel pressed a hand to his side, grimacing when it came away covered in blood. “Just this.”

“Let me see.” Chay dropped to his knees.

Gabriel hissed at the pain that flared through his side when Chay probed the wound with his fingers. “What the fuck, Chay?”

“It’s not very deep.”

Could have fooled him. It felt as if it went right through to the other side.

“A shift should fix that right up.”

“Come again?” Gabriel was positive he needed a shit-ton of stitches.

“You’re a shifter, Gabe. You can heal almost any wound by shifting.”

Convenient.

“Granted, breaking your neck or getting shot numerous times is something you can’t really heal from, but other than that, shifters are a hearty bunch. Not much can kill us.”

“Why don’t you go in the bedroom and shift,” Dom suggested. “Aldrik and I will clean up this mess.”

“Good idea,” Chay said. “Come on, baby.”

Gabriel didn’t have a better idea, so he followed Chay into his bedroom. His shirt was toast, so he tossed it toward the trash can after stripping it off. He heard Chay groan when he went for the buttons on his jeans.

Gabriel was surprised at the lust turning Chay’s eyes a dark gold color. “I’m wounded, ya perv.”

“I know.” Chay whimpered. “But I can still drool.”

Gabriel chuckled as he shimmied out of his jeans. He dropped them on the floor and then concentrated on having fur, four legs, ears, and a tail. It seemed to be easier this time than it was the last time he had shifted, less pain and a whole lot quicker. That had to be a good thing.

Gabriel turned to find Chay kneeling on the floor by the end of the bed. He sniffed the air. When Chay’s alluring scent reached him, Gabriel shuddered. He lunged forward to take Chay to the floor, purring and nuzzling at the man as he settled down over the top of him.

Chay laughed as he slid his fingers through Gabriel’s thick black fur. “Look at you, my big beautiful cat. Look how powerful you are.”

Gabriel purred, preening at his mate’s words. The man might not totally understand, but the cat did. Their mate liked them.

“I need the man back now, beautiful.”

Gabriel chuffed in protest. He didn’t want to let go of his cat form. Things were so much simpler as a cat. Eat, sleep, protect the mate. What else was there?

“Come on, big boy. Bring the man back to me.”

Gabriel let out a ferocious roar.
