Chapter Six

“What are you going to do?” Chay watched Dom pace. “Are you going to go meet with him?” Dom said he would, but he didn’t look so sure right now.

“Do you know how insane this sounds?” Dom asked.

Chay did, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try and talk Dom into going to see Gabriel. It would give him an excuse to show up at the guy’s hotel room.

“What would it hurt to hear him out?”

Dom’s eyebrows rose. “Are you serious?”

“You did say you’d meet him there in an hour.”

“Well, yeah, but…” Dom shoved his hand through his dark hair. “The guy is nuts, Chay. You know I don’t have any family left.”

Chay wasn’t so sure. He didn’t know what Gabriel’s story was, but he was going to find out. And then he needed to find out how to convince the guy to stay in Black Rock, because he’d be damned if he moved to the big city.

“Come on.” Chay’s falcon was going crazy being away from their mate. “Let’s grab some beer and take-out and go see what Gabriel’s story is. If he’s staying in a motel, I’d bet he hasn’t had anything to eat.”

“Make it whiskey instead of beer and you have a deal.”

Chay chuckled. “I think we can do that.”

“You don’t have to go listen to this joker, you know.”

“Yeah, I do.” Chay sighed. “You remember that thing I can do?”

It was essentially against shifter law to share knowledge of their kind with anyone not family or flock, but Dom had caught him shifting once and Chay had been forced to explain what he was. Dom had sworn to keep it secret, and to this very day, he had.

Dom’s eyes started to widen as he nodded.

“Crazy or not, Gabriel’s mine.”

“Yours,” Dom stated simply.

Chay nodded.

“Your what?”

“We call them Twin Flames. They are essentially two people in two separate bodies who share the same soul.” Chay drew in a shaky breath, dazed by the depths of his discovery. “They are very rare.”

In his lifetime, he had only heard of a few people who had joined their soul back together.

Dom stared intently. “Is this twin thing anything like a soul mate?”

“In many ways, yes. My people believe Twin Flames are born at the same time, their soul separated in two by Mother Earth, and they spend the rest of eternity looking for the other half. When they find the one who holds the other half of their soul, their bond is unbreakable. They complement each other in every way, and it is a hardship for them to be apart. They also often have telepathy with each other.”

“Damn, bro.” A snicker of a grin crossed Dom’s lips. “I guess we should go talk to him then, huh?”

Chay smiled back. He knew he could count on Dom. The man was his best friend and the closest thing he had to family. He had never let Chay down.

“It’s still gonna cost you a bottle of whiskey,” Dom said with a little shake of his head. “I think I’m going to need it after this shit.”

Maybe he needed two bottles, because he was pretty sure the shit was going to get deep before things began to smell rosy again. It was just a feeling he had in his gut, and he always trusted in his gut.

Chay followed Dom out of the office. He grabbed his helmet out of his office and then headed down the hallway to the front of the store. He stopped at the counter. “Dom and I have to go out for a couple of hours. You have the shop. Call us on our cells if there’s an emergency, but only if it’s an emergency.”

“Sure thing, boss,” Tommy replied.
