Yuval pulled out a knife. It was a big knife. “I will kill you,” he shouted as he raced toward Ivo.

Ivo had just enough time to cringe before that fluttering he felt deep in his gut became a full-fledged fire. Ivo screamed as it broke free, the fire consuming him. Smoke billowed around him, thick and dark. Flames flared up, surrounding him. He expected heat, but there was none.

Ivo narrowed in on Yuval, the man now cowering back against the far wall. The voice that came out of his mouth wasn’t his. “You have threatened our mate, our child. You will die.”

It seemed to be that simple.

Ivo was transfixed, watching through eyes not his own, as a fireball flew from him to Yuval, then exploded on impact. It burst burning hot for a moment, and then it was simply gone. No smoke. No fire. No Yuval. There wasn’t even any ash on the floor.

Ivo stumbled forward and dropped to his knees next to Miro. He pushed the guy over onto his back. “Miro? Miro?” Ivo shook the man, trying to get him to wake up. When Miro began to groan, Ivo blew out a relieved breath. Now he just needed to find his mate.

“What happen?” Miro asked when he opened his eyes. “Head hurt.”

“Yuval tried to kill us.”

“Yuval?”

Ivo grimaced as he nodded. “Apparently, he didn’t like me.”

“Is not good.”

Ivo’s gaze strayed to where Yuval had been standing. “Well, I don’t think he’s going to be a problem anymore.”

“Da.” Miro groaned after nodding. “Headache.”

“I need to find Vitki.”

Ivo jumped when the fireplace started to slide open. He leapt to his feet, ready to see another appearance of his dragon until he saw the man who stepped out.

Miro chuckled. “Is found.”
