Something in me snaps at that memory, and I growl, using my telekinesis to throw us sideways and over, slamming Ghoul onto the concrete. He grunts, his eyes growing wide as I climb on his dick and sheathe myself on his length. We both cry out, and shadows strike out like serpents, wrapping themselves around my thighs, my waist, my breasts. My neck.
As if he wants to consume me whole.
I ride him, moving my hips over that massive length. Ghoul’s eyes glow crimson as he arches his neck, and I can’t help but bend over and run my tongue over the corded muscle until it hits the corner of something that is not skin.
That mask. That fucking mask. He’s not paying attention, so when I slide my fingers under the edge of it, he doesn’t stop me as I rip the thing clean off.
His face is revealed to me. Perfect, brown-skinned, sharp-jawed and straight-browed. He has a brutal sort of beauty, one made equally for looking down on his enemies from a high throne and snarling on a battlefield. But it’s currently twisted in shock because I don’t think he ever intended for me to see the many lines of the black tattoos covering his face.
I would recognise my father’s markings anywhere. Because it’s a precise, elegant hand that wrote lines of control over this face of death. Symbols forcontrol, slave, leash, prison. Obey.My father struggled to control Ghoul so much that one covenant had not been enough and he’d needed to cover him in them.
I’d ponder this more, but Ghoul’s cock swells inside of me, pushing against my inner walls. “What is that?” I pant, looking down as I gush around him.
“Hemipenis, remember?” he pants, gripping my waist. “It grows into a lock.”
Something jolts through my stomach. “A serpent mating lock?” I say, suddenly panicking.
“Yes,” he says slowly, not blinking as he watches me.
I try to remove myself, planting a foot on the ground and tugging to standing, but Ghoul’s cock firmly and completely has me by the vagina as if we’re glued together. My heart beats so fast I think I’m going to faint. “How long?” I whisper.
Ghoul lifts his head to look between us. “Only the Wild Goddess can say. It’s never happened to me before.”
I sit back down on his hips, staring at this new face in a sort of wonder. I don’t know why I never expected this. Serpents lock when they mate; anywhere from twenty-four hours to three days is completely normal. I’d just…not expected it to happen in human form.
“Well, shit,” is all I can say.
Ghoul grins at me around his fangs and between his glowing eyes…the only way I could describe is, well, crazed.
Chapter 75
Scythe
Lyle and I leave warehouse two, exchanging a glance. There is nothing at all in there. The place is empty—a concrete box with no windows and only one door. Or that’s what I would believe if not for my shark-sight. I had stopped at the door, refusing to step foot or let Lyle cross the threshold into that place.
“There’s nothing in here,” Lyle had said.
“And yet I see death in it.”
My lion brother looked at me with concern as I stared at the space with an impression of a whirlpool, faint to my eyes, but it was more the aura of the place. Death had come here. And something worse than death. It made my shark scream. It fascinated my dark heart.
Lyle had to drag me away from it, but I am glad he did. Soaking up any more of the dark power would send me to a place better left untouched. But it meant that as we came out of the warehouse, we were distracted enough to bump into Xander and Savage. The latter being hoisted up by his dragon brother so his feet dangled above the ground.
“Oi!” Savage said to us. “Run, you nutters!”
We don’t ask why as Xander sprints on ahead of us, into the alleyway created between the first two warehouses. I can no longer hear the basilisks fighting, and I sprint across the concrete right behind him, ready to rescue my regina. But as we round the final corner, it turns out we don’t need to rescue her. She and Ghoul are in a ball of shadow, and as we come up to it, it fades away to reveal Aurelia sitting on Ghouls’ cock, staring at the spot the two of them are joined. She turns to see us, her face brightening.
“We need to go!” she says, pointing to the gate where multiple cars are speeding through. We knew we only had so long before the cavalry arrived.
“Then let’s go!” Savage says, running over to her and grabbing her from under the arms as if to lift her off.
“No!” she and Ghoul shout. Savage’s mouth drops open in dismay as he removes his hands.
“Serpent lock,” Aurelia says, her lips pressing together as if she’s embarrassed. She plants a foot and shows us, tugging herself upwards. The base of Ghoul’s cock moves with her. “It’s magical. No way to undo it.”
Xander’s head drops back in dismay.“Really,Aurelia?”
“Don’t start on me, Xander,” she snaps. “It might take three days.”
