That was an understatement. Between Mom’s death and figuring out how to meet the crazy terms of Frank’s loan… even if I had time to do something fun, I didn’t have the money. Then again, my idea of fun and Ted’s weren’t likely to be the same.
“What do you want to do?” he asked, putting the last of his sandwich in his mouth.
I swallowed. “I’m telling you Ted, I’m boring. With the whole afternoon free, I should check those boxes in the garage. Especially now that the doctor gave me the all clear for more strenuous activities.”
He balled up his napkin and tossed it on his plate. “Let’s go bowling.”
“What?” I asked and finished my lunch.
“We’ll go bowling, then hit the clubhouse.”
That plan sounded good on the surface, but it would delay what I really wanted to do: him.Why was I feeling timid all of a sudden? It was rare I didn’t assert myself, especially with the man in my life.
After a deep breath, I said, “I’m not sure bowling was part of my approved activities, but I have a different idea.”
“Really?”
I grabbed Punc’s plate and rinsed it in the sink. “Yes.”
He moved in next to me, opened the dishwasher, and loaded the plates. “What’s your idea?”
I put my hand on his chest. “We could stay here and finish what we started.”
He covered my hand with his. “Savannah, I love that idea, but if we do that, I may not let you up until Cat gets home tomorrow.”
My nipples tingled and I bit back my smile. “I don’t have a problem with that.”
He groaned. “Woman, don’t say shit like that. Especially if you don’t mean it.”
I slid my hand down to his waist. “But Idomean it.”
He sighed. “Savannah, I’ve only got one condom.”
I shrugged. “There’s a whole box in the bathroom.”
His face filled with concern and surprise. “Are you serious?”
I let my chin dip in a half nod. “Yes, and I refuse to think any further on it because my hunch is they were Mom’s not Cat’s. Either way, I won’t let my mind go there.”
He brought his face closer to mine. “Are you sure? You’re not… doing this because you’re nervous or something?”
“No, Ted. You can freaking kiss, and that alone drove me wild. I can’t wait to find out what else you can do to me.”
For a fleeting second, he grinned. “Always takes two to tango, woman, andyoucan freaking kiss.” He focused on a point beyond my shoulder, then shifted his gaze back to me. “Are you sure you want to do this here? That’s part of why I wanted to spend the night at the clubhouse. Figured you’re staying in your mom’s room, and that can—”
I put my finger to his lips. “Over the past few months, I’ve added my own touches, and switching out the bed linens was at the top of the list. It’s my bed now, and it isn’t a problem.”
“Savannah…we should—”
“Ted, it’s been well over a year since I’ve had sex. Believe me when I tell you, I want this.”
A devious light hit his eyes before he smiled. “So I’m just scratching an itch?”
I pushed forward to bump my chest against his. “Far from it. The fact it’s you makes it that much better.” Before I lost my nerve, I kept hold of his hand, pushed past him, and led him to the bedroom.
He yanked off his t-shirt, sat on the edge of the bed, and took off his boots.
I pulled my t-shirt over my head, and unbuttoned my shorts.
