“I’ll call you, Jazz,” I said before they continued bickering.

His Business

Rafferty

Jasmineturnedtomewhen she unlocked the doors to her car. “I’m pretty sure I’m safe in the forecourt, Raff. You didn’t have to walk me out.”

I shoved my hands in my pockets. “Yeah, I did because if something happens to you, I’d hate for the last thing I said to you was some snarky bullshit after spilling your tea.”

She rolled her eyes. “OMG, if being with Alexandra has turned you into a complete pot of mush, I’ll have to find a way to stay away from you.”

I shook my head. “Shut up, squirt. Life is short, and I give a damn about you, okay?”

With wide eyes, she nodded. “Yeah. That sounds more like the brother I know. Get back in there to your woman. I’m not sure Bianca really left, even if I heard the door close.”

I gave her a quick hug. “Fine. Try not to piss off your boss.”

“That’s no fun. Love you!”

Back in the clubhouse, it took a moment for my eyes to adjust from being outside. I saw Alexandra drinking a beer at the bar and sitting next to Beast.

Killian focused on me and raised his brows, as though asking what I wanted. I tipped my head toward Alexandra’s glass and he grinned.

She and Beast caught the by-play and twisted to look over their shoulders.

“Good. I won’t have to repeat myself now,” Beast muttered.

I leaned into an elbow on the bar, to the right of Alexandra so I could look at Beast while he spoke to her.

Killian pushed a pint glass toward me and moved to the other end of the bar.

“The club lawyer sat in on church today. Our instincts were right. If we took everything to the cops, we’d have a helluva time convincing them you - or Rafferty - didn’t have something to do with the drugs.”

Lex and I kept quiet.

Beast drained his beer bottle and set it down. “The money is a different matter.”

“It is?” Alexandra asked.

“It’s dirty,” I surmised.

Ever so slowly, Beast dipped his chin. “Obviously, our lawyer can’t tell us how to get around that. In theory, we could launder it through Platinum’s or one of the club’s other businesses.”

“Then why don’t you?” Alexandra asked.

Beast threw out a hand as though considering her words. “That draws attention, believe it or not. Final decision was that we’re stashing half of it in safe-keeping. The other seven thousand five hundred is being split. Thirty-six hundred or so is going to find its way to your bank account, sweetheart.”

“What?” Alexandra demanded. I couldn’t see her expression, but her tone was doused in outrage.

Beast put a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry. It’s being routed through your parents’ bank account, so it won’t raise suspicions.”

“Which means you’re using Dad’s company to launder it,” Alexandra said.

A steely glint hit Beast’s eyes. “I didn't say that. It’s just going to come from their account. Beyond that, you don’t need to worry about it.”

Alexandra held both her hands up in front of her torso for a moment. “You don’t know this about me, Beast, but I don’t know how to not worry about something.”
