With our sweat slicked bodies we catch our breaths as our foreheads rest against one another’s. We breath each other in. And as my fingers tangle themselves loosely in his grown out hair I feel at peace. I feel home.

“I love you so much, you know that?” I say breathlessly yet with all the emotion of my heart.

He presses a tender kiss to the tip of my nose before following one on my puffy lips. “I damn near pinch myself every day because I can’t believe I have you, Grace. You’ve given me everything I thought was never possible. And I love you, I love you more than anything.”

Our mouths fuse together in yet another kiss except this time it’s soft, this time it’s savoring.

As we break apart the most dashing and brilliant smile lights up his entire face. “Ready to be a part of our best friends’ wedding?”

I nod my head enthusiastically. “More than ever.”

Reed “Snake” Carter and Alice Hall got married underneath a blanket of twinkling stars and the glow of the moon.

It was ethereal.

And I cried the entire time they were reading their vows to one another. At the end before they consummated their marriage as husband and wife with a kiss they thanked the stars for granting their wishes to come true.

It was romantic. Beautiful.

I cried again.

My best friend who I have always considered as a sister has finally married her soul mate. And it makes my heart sing to see how abundantly happy she is.

Everyone is in high spirits at the reception. Almost all on the dance floor except for a few.

Nora, who wears a beautiful midnight blue evening gown sits at a table with none other than Crow sitting beside her.

There’s something there between the two of them. A budding of a beautiful rose. And I, for one, can’t wait to watch their relationship bloom.

“She just had to choose him,” Oak says with slight annoyance as he holds me in his arms as we sway gently to the soft music.

“They would make a beautiful couple.”

He squeezes my hip and pins me with a look. “Grace,” he warns.

I bat my lashes innocently. “I don’t see what the problem is. I thought you two buried the hatchet?”

He grunts and I find it all too amusing. “Doesn’t mean I have to like him.” Men. I would roll my eyes but I end up biting my tongue instead. “Say what’s on that mind on yours, baby. You know I love it when you use that voice of yours.”

I raise a brow challenging him. “Even when my opinion differs from yours?”

He smirks devilishly. “Especially then.”

“You just like my sassy mouth.”

He pulls me in closer and says huskily, “I love your sassy mouth. I love it even more wrapped around my cock.”

My cheeks redden and I can feel the heat travel down my neck and spread across my chest. “Big guy,” I chastise.

His eyes then turn soft. “But I love your mouth the most when it says my name. Your voice is peace to me, Grace. Everything about you is. My peace after a long god damned war. I love everything about you.”

My eyes grow misty as emotions swell in my throat. “You’re always so incredibly sweet. I knew that from the moment I met you.”

“And I knew you were it for me.”

“You did?”

He sweeps a loose curled piece of hair from my cheek and tucks it behind my ear. Then, he palms my face tenderly in his hand. “My path was always meant to lead to you.”
