Done with this conversation now more than ever I quickly mutter a goodbye before I hang up the phone.
“You didn’t tell me Kirill left me a gift,” she scolds me.
“Hearing his name from your lips only makes me want to kill him more.”
A roll of her eyes. “You’re being irrational.”
“We’ve already discussed how possessive and obsessive I am where you’re concerned.”
She leans back. The shirt gives headway and I see a hint of her dusty rose nipple.
“And it should be alarming how I’m not opposed to those qualities about you. But I guess you could have worse ones for being a Made Man,” she says cheekily.
“Do you even regret it?” I raise a brow in question. “Taking me,” she clarifies
My finger twirls in the ends of her hair before I place the strand behind her ear. The pad of my finger is gentle against her skin as it lingers on her earlobe. It’s surprisingly intimate just as much as it’s erotic. Her skin flushes a beautiful shade of crimson.
“I’m not a man of regrets,” I say lowly.
She swallows as desire turns her eyes to black pools. “So, you would take me again? Knowing that it’s wrong. Knowing all the complications I’ve brought to you?”
I collar her throat then. Her pulse races beneath my fingertips. I apply a hint of pressure knowing it turns her on. Her breath falters with a darkened anticipation. She wraps her legs around my torso and pulls me against her. My erection lays thick and heavy against her cunt.
“You’re asking a rather very silly question.”
“I don’t think so,” She argues.
My free hand slides up her leg to hook under her knee. Then I raise it, positioning it to have her even more vulnerable and open. “Don’t ask questions you already know the answer to. Rather, if you want me to say it just tell me to say it.”
“Then say it.”
“I don’t regret taking you. And I would do it again. Even if our families were never at war. Even if our families were never rivals. I would have taken you, Imogen. I’d find a way to make you mine. Because you are. If there are infinite earths you aremine in every one of them. It wouldn’t matter if your heart had wandered to another or a ring were to be on your finger. Your heart, your soul belongs to me and me alone. So, no, I don’t regret taking you, Imogen. I don’t regret taking what was always meant to be mine.”
With my hand still collared around her throat I tip her head back. I brush my nose along hers. Her hot breath kisses my lips. I find myself spellbound by the brilliance shining in her eyes. I’m a man bound in every way possible and I wish to never be free.
Tension sparks like live wires in the rain between us.
“Tell me what you want, Imogen. All you have to do is tell me and I will give it to you.” She could ask for something as unattainable as the moon and I’d find a way to give it to her.
“All I want is you, Rico. In every way possible. I don’t want to know where I end and you begin.”
“No one will ever have me the way you do, gazzella,” I promise gruffly. I capture her lips in mine and she kisses me back with a fevered passion.
And it’s the love like ours, all consuming, devouring, maddening and dark yet beautiful, pure and true that will stand the test of time.
As a man who doesn’t believe in anything I believe in us.
Some things, I have learned, are just meant to be.
