Josie cleared the cart.He set everything back in his kit, he took her hand in his and Josie grabbed her cane.

“Time to get something to eat.”He nodded at Max, then led Josie through the diminished crowd back to the bar.

Josie stumbled against him.“I feel off.”

“Is your head woozy? Are you sore?”He couldn’t help but ambush her with concern.

“I’m fine.”

“You just said you weren’t fine.Tell me.”He navigated back towards the bar, to the seating area, nodding at Miss Helena and one of her subs as he passed, he knew her and other people in the club, the charity poker game hosted by Zee Ridell.

“Take a seat.I’ll be right back with drinks and food.”

Josie sat on the black loveseat, curling her feet under her.“Thanks.I do feel a little woozy.”

Ares laid his hand against her cheek. Her skin felt a little clammy. He glanced around for a helper to sit with her when a tall woman dressed in a leather pantsuit came up.“I caught some of your scene.Did you have a good time?”

Josie smiled.“Great! It was so good I want to do it again, Cecilia.”

Ares relaxed, realizing it was her friend.“I’ll be right back.”

Cecilia sat next to her and he quickly made his way to the food. His cell buzzed in his pocket.

[Xander]: Henri wants to move the launch date.

Ares slipped his phone back in his pocket. He had all their financials in order, suspecting that Henri would want to push it to market right before Christmas to be ready for the Boxing Day sales.

“Josie seems to be enjoying herself,” Ella Riddell smiled at Ares as he filled a plate with something wrapped in pastry and a handful of veggies.

“I hope so.I wanted to give her a night she didn’t forget.”

“I’m happy for you, Ares.”

“Thank you, Ella.”Ares grabbed two bottles of water and made his way back.“Food delivery.Eat something.”

Josie took a carrot.“Thanks.”

Cecilia stood.“Now that you're being looked after, I'm going to head out.See you tomorrow.”

“Don’t let me chase you away,” Ares said, sitting next to Josie.

“You couldn’t chase me away,” Cecilia flashed him a grin.“But my alarm clock is going to go off in four hours.Bye.”

Josie gave Cecilia a hug, she gave them a wave and was off.

“I ate dinner at her restaurant the other night. She’s very capable.”

“Yeah. She was a woman who was born to be an executive chef. She has the confidence and the ingrained authority.”

“What about you, do you still want the fine dining job?”

Josie snuggled against his chest.“It's still in the back of my head but more and more, I like what I have.”She laced her fingers through his, his heart skipped a beat.

He brushed his lips against her cheek.“I like what we have, very much. How are you feeling?”

“Better. The food is helping. It's not that I hurt but feels like my skin is extra sensitive.”

“We could go any time.”
