“Nice of you all to show up,” Ivy spat out.

“That’s a weird way to say thanks for saving my life,” Gabe said.

Ivy snorted. Nick shook his head, Erik looked out the window, and Ivy glared at Gabe.

“Yeah, how does it feel, asshole? All of you. Not one of you paid attention to me.”

“Ivy, that’s too simplified. There are many reasons it went down the way it did,” Gabe said.

“Fuck you all,” Ivy spat. “These past few months have been hell. And you all just let him mop around in his anger bubble? You call yourself brothers? You’re not even his friends.”

“Ivy, I don’t know what happened, but we’ll figure it out,” Gabe said.

“What happened is your asshole brother set me up, afraid I would cost him money or whatever, wanted to make sure you were on this job tonight so you could be blown up. Now, will you stop comparing yourself to him?”

“Ivy, calm down. Now isn’t the time for this.” Gabe said.

“What are you going to do? Nothing. You never do anything, Gabe. In all these months, you never checked on me. You never made sure I had what I needed. Obviously, you think I am a partner who will ruin your life.”

“I don’t think that.” Gabe’s eyes flared with anger.

“What a way to show it,” Ivy snorted.

“Do you want me to call someone?” Nick asked.

“No. I’ll take care of it,” Ivy sneered. “Just get me home.”

“You aren’t wrong, Ivy,” Erik said quietly. “Gabe messed up. We all did. But he’s better with you.”

And that was the thing that made her burst into sobs. He might be better with her, but was it better for her to be without him?

CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE - GABE

AssoonasNickstopped the car, Erik jumped out, and Gabe opened Ivy’s door.

He loved her so damn much. And his stomach was in a giant knot. His damn brother. How insane was Cole’s plan?

“Come here.” He pulled her against his chest. She shook her head and threw his arm off of her.

He laced his fingers through hers, squeezing her hand. “I got you.” She shot daggers at him, and he exchanged a glance with Erik. Yeah, his girl had fire.

His phone rang. “Yeah?”

“Nick filled us in. I got a crew coming over there to clean up,” Xander’s calm voice sounded in Gabe’s ear. “Okay.” He bit his tongue so hard he tasted blood. He knew those men were former military. He wanted to strangle his brother.

“We’ll be in touch.” Xander hung up.

“Erik, am I taking you home?” Nick asked from the front seat.

“Yes,” Gabe said.

Ivy glared at him.

“I’ll bring the car back to you tomorrow,” Nick said

“Sure. Thanks for having my back.”

Ivy snorted, marching ahead of him.
