“Gabe!” Her high pitch keens were sweet music to his ear, and he kept his fingers working right through her aftershocks until she gasped, wrung out.

So damn gorgeous, his Princess, coming apart for him.

“Still mad at you.”

“I know.” Wrapping her in his arms, he curled next to her. “Sleep, Princess.”

And finally, for the first time in hours, the anger left him completely, as he slept next to the woman who had his heart.

CHAPTER TWENTY – IVY

Ivyswipedhersweatypalms on her dressy black slacks, giving herself a pep talk like she would before going into a pitch presentation.I have nothing to lose. I can speak well and stay focused.

Ivy didn’t have a plan. She knew the entrance to the black and glass building was by appointment only, but she figured she could stand there until they let her in, or they must have an intercom or something?

She exhaled as she saw Quinn, with his arms folded beside his black truck, glaring at his purple-haired sister. Ivy smiled to see Kayleigh again. She was so spirited and funny. Ivy had missed her. Next to Kayleigh, there were stacks of boxes.

“Kayleigh, Deidre painted that for your sixteenth birthday. You can at least take that to your new place.”

“Please, Quinn. It’s better with my other stuff,” Kayleigh pleaded.

“If I take all of this, all you’ll have is some clothes,” Quinn said.

“The new place is being painted. Simone said it wouldn’t be a problem storing my things.” At the mention of his wife’s name, his arms uncrossed. He took the painting and put it in the truck’s backseat.

“Fine. I don’t like this because it feels like you’re hiding something.”

Kayleigh looked away towards the traffic and back at Quinn.

“Hi. Need any help?”

“Hey Ivy! Haven’t seen you in forever.” Kayleigh hugged her tightly. Ivy smiled, returning her hug, giving Quinn a shy smile over her shoulder.

“What brings you here?” Quinn was always right to the point. Her stomach fluttered under his intense look.

“Obviously, she wanted to talk to you or someone.” Kayleigh gestured at the building behind them.

Quinn grunted as he put boxes in his trucks.

“Ivy, do you still get great concert tickets? I want to see Stella Gray, and her concert is coming up next month.”

“Sorry. I’m not working for Metric anymore.”

“Ahh! That’s too bad. What are you doing now?”

“Kayleigh, you’re being nosy,” Quinn said, picking up the last box.

“It’s okay. I just took a new job as a radio show co-host. We’ll see how that goes.”

“Wow! I would love to do that. How do you get that job? I guess you need to go to school for it.” Kayleigh pushed back her hair.

“This one just found me.”

“I wish something would just find me,” Kayleigh pouted.

“All right, Kayleigh, that’s everything. Are you sure I can’t drive you to your new place?”

Kayleigh shook her head. “Nope, I’m good. I’m going to walk. I’ll see you on Saturday. Ivy, wait, what’s your number? I don’t want to lose touch with you, even if you don’t have concert tickets anymore.”
