“What did Tallon say?”
“I’m trusted to bring you into work safely tomorrow morning. I informed them you’re staying the night.”
“Okay,” Harper said. She knew if it had been anyone else and not the new hire, they wouldn’t have left. She didn’t like the bodyguards on her. They were short-staffed enough at Axis Management, but Xander wouldn’t budge on them. She knew it was far-fetched, but she took that as further proof Xander wouldn’t cast her aside entirely. For a moment her head cleared, and she checked her phone, to see if there were any updates about a callback from the audition. She sighed, maybe she shouldn’t have done that because it was another thing to worry about.
“What is it?”
“Nothing,” Harper said. “Just thinking about the night.”
“Not all scenes end how you want them to.” Logan squeezed her hand.
Once inside his condo, Logan hung up her jacket, dimmed the lights, and spun her around to face him. “You and I are going to talk, but first, you need a bath. Come on, Kitten.” He held her hand, leading her through to the master bathroom, where he turned on the taps, poured something from a jar into the tub, and lowered those lights.
“Logan, you don’t have to look after me like this.”
The heat of his hands matched the blaze in his eyes as his soft lips met hers. “Yes, I do. Get in the tub, Harper.”
She obeyed, soaking into the steamy bubble bath, feeling relief as the hot water eased her muscles.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
A chirping melody rang out, and Logan grinned. “Food. I’ll be back in a few.”
How could she have thrown herself at Xander? Logan had shown her repeatedly how much she meant to him. He treated her with exquisite care and made her feel safe and cherished. She swallowed another sob and leaned back against the tub. Her eyes closed after a minute, as the residual emotions left her.
She opened her eyes to Logan, stroking her cheek with the back of his hand. “Feel better?”
“Yeah, thank you. I can’t believe I broke down like that in the club.”
“You’re not the first submissive to do so, won’t be the last.”
“It wasn’t even an intense scene.”
“Tonight, it was for you. You never know what emotions a scene can bring out.”
She nodded, the scene playing behind her closed eyes lids. The man had brought her to orgasm and forced her to have another one. She let him tie her up with rope. She shuddered in the bath.
“Are you all right if I leave you for a few minutes?”
“Yes. I’m fine.” Harper smiled.
“Okay, Kitten. Call if you need me.”She laid back in his tub, trying to sort out her thoughts. With Logan, she felt so cared about, so cherished. With Xander, she felt cared for in a whole different way. He pushed her and made demands on her. Logan handfed her tidbits until she got where he wanted her to be. Both methods worked for her, so damn well it scared her how much these men saw her. How much her heart wanted both of them. She closed her eyes, swirling the water gently.
“Hey, ready to come out?”Harper nodded. The water had gone cold. Logan helped her out of the tub and dried her off with a big fluffy yellow towel, kissing the back of her neck.
“Thanks,” Harper mumbled as she slipped on a silky black robe he held out for her, wondering if he had a drawer full of them somewhere.
“Let’s eat.” He laced his fingers through hers and led her into the living room. A fire glowed in the fireplace. On a low coffee table, dishes were laid out and the Thai food smelled amazing. Cushions rested on either side of the table.
“You eat on the floor?”
“Why not?” Logan said, grinning at her. He brought out a bottle of red wine, uncorked it, and passed her a glass.
Taking a sip of wine, Harper steadied herself. Logan was always full of surprises.
“I’m creating a mood here, Kitten,” Logan explained, lowering to the floor. “I want you to feel safe and comfortable”
“I do,” Harper said, she sat down across from him.
