He put a finger on Harper’s lips, stalling her questions.
“Hana’s mother’s family is religious and controlling, and when Hana’s mother, Paige, met my dad, he gave her a ticket out. They ran away and had Hana. When my dad left again, she came back and her family had disowned her, and Hana couldn’t access her trust fund to pay for college. But Edwin saw my mug in that magazine, and we struck a deal. If I used my little fame that climb brought me for the good of his company, he would give Paige and Hana what is rightfully theirs.”
“That’s horrible,” she bit her lip.
“Yeah, but I don’t like horrible people and if I can do something for my kid sister, I will.” Logan shrugged. “That’s her.”
Logan picked up a framed photo of a younger giggling Hana and him on a Ferris wheel.
“Cute. You’re very generous and loyal to do that for them.”
“Loyalty is what makes me a Bandit Brother.”
Harper stared at him for a moment and shook her head.
“What?” Logan replaced the photo on the shelf and rubbed her shoulders.
“It’s the trait Xander values the most. I was just thinking you two had that in common, sorry.” When he said nothing, she continued. “What about your mom? What does she think?”
“She doesn’t know about this deal,” Logan said. God, his mother would fly into one strong current of rage if she found out. “She loves Hana, too though, so it would piss her off.”
“Even though Hana is your father’s child from a different mother?”
“Yeah. She invites my dad over for dinner whenever he’s in town.”
“I’d like to meet your mom and Hana. How did Edwin’s family get so much money? Solar panels are new, right?”
“Yeah. Grandad was an inventor, made a new scratch restraint cover for wristwatches, and sold it for a mint. When solar panels gained popularity, they took his interest. He invested in one of the early solar panel companies and modified the coverings, then created SolCan. We all have a past, Kitten. It’s how we choose to deal with it that matters.” Logan ran his hands over her back, massaging her gently.
“I know, but mine is hard to talk about it.”
“Not talking about it gives it a lot of power, darling,” Logan said, brushing her face lightly with his fingertips.
Harper closed her eyes and leaned into his touch.
“What about an easy one? Where are you from?”
“Grew up over on Vancouver Island,” Harper said, wrapping a piece of hair around her fingers.
Logan dropped a sweet kiss on her lips.
“That wasn’t too hard. Now tell me about motorcycle man,” Logan said, adding a touch of command to his voice.
“I met him in the first year of University, and I lost my virginity to him,” Harper said, blushing.
“Any other conquests?” Logan asked, dropping kisses along her jawline.
“None worth talking about,” Harper said. “What about you?”
“This isn’t an equal exchange,” Logan said, tugging on her hair slightly. “But between the military and work, I’ve never had a long-term relationship. I play a lot at the club. I like kink, and I like putting on a show, but I don’t always go to bed with them, despite what you may think.”
“I have thought nothing like that,” Harper said. “I’ve watched you tie. You seem so intense with those girls.”
“Yes, it’s like an art. I want the experience to be good for them. I want to give them what they need and make it beautiful. But right now, I want to give you what you need.”
With that, his hand slid around her neck and his tongue caressed hers, making her open for him. His hand slid down around her breast through her silky shirt and then the other one.
“Let me show you something.” Logan tore himself away from her, but he wanted her reaction to his toy chest. “Come with me,” he said, extending his hand.
