Several accountants were cowering behind a large steel cabinet, weeping and sobbing as chaos unfolded around them.

"Please," a skinny man whimpered. "Don't kill us!"

Axel had little pity. Their corporation was actively working on tests to determine werewolf DNA from regular humans. It was only a matter of time before they developed a test, that could expose all the werewolves hidden amongst the population.

He had no choice.

Reese and Bruno were also happily destroying the office, ripping humans to pieces and biting everyone in sight. Only Luke looked disturbed by the violence, his ears pinned back and his tail low as he stood off to the side.

Ryan had summoned Luke to the compound and assigned him to battle, no doubt eliminating any ways for Axel to hide Deepa.

Axel howled as he dug his teeth into a man trying to run, watching as the human crumbled to the ground, and spasmed as the change started to overtake him.

Violence was the only way for Axel to vent his frustration.

When they were children, Axel had been chosen as a future leader. He was doted on and adored by their elders while Ryan was shunted to the side, virtually ignored as the child of a human turned werewolf. All that changed when Ryan defeated Axel in a duel, and now, as the leader of their pack, Axel was stuck being Ryan's bitch.

Axel had to follow every stupid order or risk expulsion, and Ryan loved to use it to his full advantage.

"Shit!" cried Sammy as he came dashing towards them, naked in his human form. "Infection control vans outside!"

Axel let out a long howl, signaling to everyone to evacuate.

Dozens of wolves dashed for the exits, or shifted back to their human forms, camouflaging themselves amongst the chaos.

Axel's gaze turned to Luke. His cousin stood frozen as he stared out the window, watching several vans park around the building.

Axel snapped his teeth in Luke's direction, urging him to get a move on.

Luke turned and fled towards the stairs.

Axel followed, his eyes darting to the side as Reese and Bruno disappeared down the hallway, taking a different exit.

Gunfire erupted behind him, bullets ripping through walls and shattering glass as Infection Control officers approached, dressed in full body armor.

Axel was smart enough to know when he was outmatched.

He bolted out an open window, sailing two stories across the carpark and landing hard on the concrete, Luke following close behind. They dashed into the darkness as bullets followed, trailing them until they disappeared amongst the trees.

It had been years since Axel came so close to death, but all that he could think of was her. The taste of her, the scent, the warmth of her skin and the softness of her hair.

She was all that filled his mind.

Her lips on his, her nails scratching his skin, her thighs clenching his hips as she trembled and moaned beneath him.

He needed her.

Axel was surprised to find that Deepa hadn't gone far. He followed her scent to an annex of the compound, an isolated room with a large window overlooking the gardens.

She was lying on a double bed, fully clothed and fast asleep, the moonlight streaming through the window.

Axel gazed at her, his chest aching.

She was so beautiful, her brown skin glowing, her thick lashes and soft curls framing her face.

Axel shifted back to his human form, sliding open the window and slipping inside.

"Get out!" she hissed without opening her eyes.
