“Best job in the world.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that.”
“Yeah?”
“You just wait until you’ve tasted one of my cinnamon buns.”
When, not if.
Cole chuckled. “That good, huh?”
“I’ll let you be the judge of that.”
“I can’t wait.”
Cole loved the pretty pink color that flooded Maya’s cheeks. He’d never tire of looking at it and was already planning things he could say to her just so that he could see it again.
He zipped into a tight parking space then cut the engine. “We’re here.”
She blinked across at him. “I’m sorry?”
“Your building. You’re home.”
“Oh, right. So we are.”
Cole loved the disappointed expression on her face. He took off his seat belt, then opened his door and climbed out. Then he went around to Maya’s door and opened it for her.
“After you,” he said with a sweep of his hand.
“What, where are you going?” she asked after he’d bleeped the locks shut.
He flashed his most charming smile. “I’m walking you to your door.”
“I’m not, you’re not, I mean, you’re not expecting…”
His eyes widened. “No, of course not. I promise you, I just want to get to know you and make sure you get in okay. Door to door service and nothing less.”
She let out a melodic giggle that made his wolf keen and the fit of his pants a little more snug.
“Well, okay then, when you put it like that…”
