Peter

Peterdidnothavethe luxury of leisure time to watch Theo prep his food, but just the knowledge of having his beloved soothed Peter’s growing bloodlust. While Theo did things to food, Peter sat at the kitchen table, tying up a few work-related things and answering allegedly urgent emails.

“How come you have pots and pans and all that shit when you don’t cook?”Theo was chopping some new-world vegetable and tossing it into a pan, where it sizzled noisily.

“You have seen me make hot chocolate, so it’s not like I never use any of the pots. Not having the expected kitchen equipment would look strange to unsuspecting humans, or it would make me appear like some man who never learned to cook and cannot survive by himself. There are still quite a lot of those.”

Theo nodded.“Right, you’re not some hedonist bachelor. So last night was…nice.”

Peter realized Theo had shifted gears and was now in a talking mood, so he forwarded the remaining emails to Michael.

“I mean—” Theo went on.“—not the part about you getting hurt, obviously, I mean, erm, you and me.That was nice.”

Peter felt relief hit him right where his heart was. This was worth all the snot a thousandfold.

“Nice?Theodore, can I take that to mean you’d be open to more of the same?No bird attacks, just the lovemaking.Or even just the movie-watching, if you prefer a slower approach.”

Theo turned back to his food.“I think I’d like that.Maybe a medium fast approach.A movie here and there, then lovemaking.”

Peter walked over to Theo and hugged him from behind.Theo’s sharp intake of breath and the way he leaned into Peter rather than jerking away was so much better than work.

“Good.You set the pace, Theodore.”

Theo sighed.“Just don’t turn bad.I like you like this.”

Peter ran his nose through Theo’s hair.“Look at me.”

Theo turned, just enough that Peter’s arms went around his back, and looked up at him.“Yeah?”

He’s so soft, so young. So much potential for untold amounts of snot, yet I hope I will make him happy enough that snot won’t happen.

Peter considered taking the compulsion away, but he knew better. It wasn’t worth the risk.

“I have been who I am for a very long time, Theodore.I’m not about to change now.I find no joy in pretending otherwise. This is me, and I’ll not turn into another. You could say I’m a buy-as-is situation.”Peter couldn’t resist punctuating that statement with a kiss.He planted one on the corner of Theo’s mouth, where he ran his tongue over the soft, silky skin of Theo’s lips.Since Theo had stopped doing it, Peter stirred the food that was still sizzling away behind Theo’s back.“Let’s keep it hot, but not charred, precious one.”

“Huh?”

Peter smiled as those jade green eyes darkened with lust.“Your food.”

“Oh.”Theo turned, his attention shifting to the pan, and Peter sauntered back over to the table, pleased as blood-laced punch.

“Would you like to watch another movie after you eat?I would suggest something Hitchcock, but maybe that’s in poor taste after the crows last night.”

“Movie sounds good.”Theo looked over his shoulder.“Birdswas the one that really got me into horror and all things dark.I told him that, you know?I told Bernard.I’m surprised he remembered.”

Peter nodded. That pigeon-livered worm wants to get in his head.He will pay the price for that, tenfold.

“Movie it is then.How aboutDracula?”

“The one with all the homoerotic and just generally erotic subtext?Sure thing.”

Peter was pleased to have amassed his movie library.Things were going excellently.I might only be one dead vampire away from happiness.

About an hour later, Peter had a moderately chatty Theodore snuggled against him in the basement. He’d found a different blanket for his lover to curl up under, since the other one bore claw and beak marks. There had been a few drops of eyeball juice on it too.

Theo hummed.“I mean, the book is admittedly dark, but really, it’s a romance when you get down to it.Lucy totally has a thing for Mina.I think Mina does too, but she might be ace.”
