And yes, Peter was bloody.Theo felt the ragged claw marks the birds had left on the skin of Peter’s back, and then there was Peter’s eye… Theo hardly dared touch that side of Peter’s face for fear of hurting him.

Peter didn’t seem to mind.He took Theo’s mouth, forceful, hard, tongue conquering and teeth raking over Theo’s lips.

“P-Peter…”

Theo regretted never having kissed the vampire before. He regretted…all of it.The Boudoir, the sex, but not really.Peter had been Theo’s client only a few hours ago though.

Peter stopped his wild kisses.“Are you scared?Do you want me to stop?”

“No.”Theo’s throat was tight.“The blood.You need the blood.You’re hurt.”

“Hmm.”

Peter went right back to what he had been doing, stealing Theo’s breath, and when Theo’s eyes drifted shut with the sensation, he arched his spine, creating an opening for Peter to coil his arms around Theo’s waist.

Theo ran his hands up Peter’s sides and pulled up the vampire’s torn shirt. He explored the skin, careful to keep his touch soft because of the many scratches. It was enough for him to enjoy the way Peter moved, strength and intent combining in his powerful frame.

After a few more seconds, Peter broke his possessive kiss, and Theo took a deep breath.Fuck.I’ve never been kissed like that.

The birds still ran frantic claws and beaks over the outside of the door, but it didn’t matter.Theo didn’t feel scared or as if he were in danger.Instead, he moaned with pleasure when Peter lowered his mouth to his jaw and pressed kisses into the skin there.

Peter growled, and the noise made Theo tilt his head to the side to offer Peter the blood he needed to heal.

Peter’s mouth fell on Theo’s pulse point, but instead of the sharp pain of teeth breaking skin, Peter showered the area with kisses, marking it with his tongue.

“It’s okay, go ahead and drink,” Theo said.“I want you to.”

Peter stopped all of a sudden, and instead of biting, he sat up and looked down at Theo.Peter’s remaining pupil eclipsed the blue of his iris, and combined with that gaping eye socket in the scarcely illuminated room, he looked scary. If it had been Halloween, Peter could’ve scared small and not-so-small children by the dozen.

Yet, Theo wasn’t scared at all.

Peter didn’t speak. He tore off his tattered shirt. That move was far sexier than it had any right to be, and Theo felt heat pool low in his belly.

“Don’t rush me, Theodore.”Peter kept his one eye on Theo.“Before I take your blood, I want you.Do you consent?”

Theo opened his mouth to give Peter the green light, but he hesitated, a small part of him too scared. It was that part Theo had had to confront when he’d been alone in the bathroom one morning after having been with Bernard. He’d remembered nothing of the previous night, nothing after Bernard’s teeth, but he’d felt that there had been more. He’d looked at himself in the bathroom mirror, unsure who that person was staring back at him.

“No,” Theo said.

Peter froze. He smiled gently and cupped Theo’s cheek.“Okay.”

And then, the unthinkable happened: Peter got off Theo and stood by the bed, his healing but bloodied chest on full display. He held out a hand for Theo to take.

“Huh?”

Peter nodded toward a chair by a window that reminded him of the one in his guestroom—the reading chair.

“I thought you might want to sit.If you’re willing to let him see you through the window, it might draw him out, and I could head outside, say hi.”

Theo’s mouth fell open.“You just…stopped.”

Peter frowned.Even with his eye healing, the expression looked grotesque.“Of course I stopped. You told me to.”

“But—”

“Theodore, you don’t have to explain or justify anything.”He did his creepy grin.“No hard feelings, pardon the pun.”

“Pun—oh.Right.”Theo bit his lip and looked at Peter’s hand. It’s still a stupid thing to do.Very not smart.Unwise.I should know better. He took Peter’s hand and pulled.
