“What about your fuck boy? You know that’s dead. I’m a selfish man and that won’t change.”
“Already handled. And what about your Silly Hoe Thirst Crew?”
East chuckled, still amused by the label she gave Nae and Malaysia.
“Never an issue so it’s already handled.”
“Yeah I bet. We’ll see.”
“Indeed.”
East lifted Joi from the counter, allowing her legs to wrap around his waist while her arms circled his neck. He wasn’t sure what the hell he just agreed to but if it meant having access to Joi then he would rock with it until he couldn’t.
“Mmmm, yeah?”Joi mumbled into the phone, voice heavy and groggy, having been jarred from a peaceful sleep. She wasn’t sure how long she had been out but was positive it hadn’t been long because her eyes felt weighted like they had only closed moments before the call. Not to mention her body felt drainedand powerless against any potential movement. Well part of the issue was East’s solid heavy arm draped across her waist. The feel of him against her back produced a warm smile.
“Oh, my bad, sis. I thought maybe you had early appointments.” Nyelle felt bad.
“No, eleven. What’s up?”
“I need a favor?” Nyelle sang, clasping her hands together, praying she got a yes.
“You know I got you, boo, well as long as it doesn’t require me to move right now. I mean I will but I’m gonna be mad if that’s what you need,” Joi mumbled, saying a prayer of her own. She loved her girl and would do whatever but she was exhausted, sore, and East’s bed felt like heaven.
“No, you’re good. It’s for later. I want to see Vega tonight but?—”
“Nick. I got you, sis. What time do you need me there?”
“You sure? You don’t have plans?” Nyelle never wanted to be that friend who pushed her kid off on friends. She knew Joi loved Nick and never complained about spending time with him but still.
“Girl, yeah, I got him. I miss my Small Fry.”
“Oh thank god,” Nyelle released in a rush. She really missed Vega but wasn’t ready to have him around Nick just yet. “Between Nick and Reese’s stupid ass I need a break and?—”
“Ny, I love you more than anything but not right now. I can’t process what you’re saying; it’s too early or maybe even too late. I have no clue what time it is but I don’t want to think. I just want to sleep.”
Nyelle grinned hard. “Okay, well one more favor and I’ll let you go.”
“Ny, please!”
“It’s small, just ask East when I can bring Nick by to get a cut. He’s long overdue.”
Joi’s eyes shot open quickly and she lifted her head, shaking the haze she felt from having been asleep. “Wait, how do you know I’m with East?”
Amused by her reaction, Nyelle laughed. “Well I didn’t know until now, but I assumed you were because Vega told me you left with him. I almost called and cursed you out for not telling me yourself when you were texting me last night, but I’ma let you make it. I see East put that ass to sleep and has you rushing me off the phone. Bye, boo. Call me when you wake up and tell East I said what’s up.”
“I hate you.”
“Who’s that squeaky ass voice on your phone, shawty?” East’s voice was just as lazy and groggy sounding behind Joi. He was trying his best not to be bothered by the call and hoped it would end soon, but Joi kept talking.
“Heyyyyy, Eaaaaasst.” Nyelle yelled through the phone so loudly that he heard her like it was to his ear and not Joi’s.
He chuckled and moved Joi closer, kissing the back of her neck before shutting his eyes and rattling off, “Hang up, shawty. I’m not trying to listen to anyone singing my name unless it’s you while I’m hitting that spot just right.” He mumbled but it was apparently loud enough for Nyelle to hear.
“Oh shit, I see you, Joi. Call me later.” Joi ended the call and pushed her phone under the pillow while East tightened his hold around her waist with the arm draped across her body.
“Tell your girl you have business hours. I’m not trying to listen to y’all giggling and shit at all hours of the night. Her voice is mad annoying.”
Joi rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth, ending with a slight smile.
