“We appreciate you letting us stay here,” East said, looking around. He didn’t do a lot of traveling but he welcomed the opportunity when it hit. The way his life was set up, there wasn’t much need to travel but he could get used to the backdrop of the ocean and the peace that came along with it. Being born and raised in the city, the idea of experiencing life outside of what he had grown accustomed to didn’t seem like a bad idea.
“This place is nice as hell. How long you been here?” Cabo smiled at Vega’s question, admiring his surroundings. The seven-figure residence was exquisite and fit his lifestyle perfectly. The place was designed by Ava, but he loved her vision and was completely satisfied with the finished product. “A few years. This is one of my favorite properties. We try our best to spend as much time here as we can.”
“Shit, I don’t blame you. I might be your neighbor soon.” Vega smirked, looking out over the ocean before he gave Cabo his attention.
“You won’t be disappointed. I keep trying to convince East he needs to get away more. Maybe now he’ll consider it. Women love to travel. It falls right behind shopping on their list.”
East smirked, knowing Cabo was referring to Joi.
“I’m thinking about it but I damn sure don’t need all this. It’s nice though. Not really my style. I like nice shit, but this is a bit much.”
“You can afford it,” Cabo added, causing East to chuckle at the thought. He could but he wasn’t big on being grand. It brought attention he didn’t want.
“Fuck all that. The feds can kiss my ass. If I want it, I’m getting it. I work hard for the money, and as long as I create the paper trail, then there isn’t a damn thing they can say.”
“Indeed. Speaking of that, are you planning on taking over when your brother steps down? To my understanding it won’t be long.”
Vega’s eyes met East’s before he gave his attention to Cabo. “How the fuck you know that?”
“It’s my business to know. I’m well versed in the dealings of your family business. I’m acquainted with your father. Even after he stepped down, we kept in touch. It’s necessary for what I do. I have to know all of the key players. Your family are definitely key players.”
Vega stared at Cabo for a moment, unsure of how he felt about what was being discussed. He knew about Cabo but wasn’t aware his father had an association with him. Deciding to let it go under the assumption that East wouldn’t bring him into a compromising situation, Vega answered truthfully. “Makes sense, but nah, I’m not. It’s time for me to do my own thing.”
Cabo nodded. “Understood. If I can be of any assistance, let me know. Now, on to the reason you’re here…” He glanced at East and Vega before continuing. “The jet is set up and ready to go. Pavia will meet you there. While you handle your business, he’ll handle his and you’ll be back before the sun comes up if all goes well.”
“We’re good with ours. As long as there are no complications with his movement we shouldn’t have any issues,” East stated with confidence, sharing a look with Vega who nodded as confirmation.
“Perfect. If anything goes wrong, Pavia knows to handle it. Unless you’re caught in the act he should be able to handle any issues you have, and even then, I’m sure he has the ability to find a loophole. He amazes me sometimes but it’s why I keep him around.” Cabo chuckled at the thought. He was extremely careful and smart about business, but he was well aware that his lawyer was also a factor in why he never had any legal issues.
“We aren’t getting caught,” East looked Cabo right in the eyes and he smirked at his confidence.
“I assume the ladies aren’t aware of your plans?”
“Hell no,” Vega said, then laughed to himself. His reaction caused both Cabo and East to do the same.
“I just told Joi we needed to get away for a minute. She didn’t ask questions.”
“Good, that means she trusts you. Everything is set up. So, for now, make yourselves at home. I’m going to find my lady before she kidnaps that boy. I have a feeling she’s already mapping out a plan.”
The men laughed at the idea, but Cabo also welcomed a seriousness he knew existed. It was bittersweet but he and Ava chose their paths and it was too late to detour.

Where the hell are you with my son?
Nyelle rolled her eyes as she read the text. Her first instinct was to ignore it, but she didn’t want to make matters worse. Reese had a history of doing dumb things. Telling him where she was wouldn’t change her or Nick’s location, but it would at least be fair.
Miami. I’ll be back in a few days.
Immediately her phone rang but Nyelle hit ignore. A text was one thing, but she wasn’t about to argue with Reese this late at night. She glanced at the bathroom door, releasing a frustrated sigh, wanting to kick herself in the ass for posting the stories of her and Nick on social media, but Nyelle had made up her mind to move on with her life and not be held prisoner by her ex’s inability to do the same.
You have no right to take my son out of town without discussing it with me first. He got you set up for kidnapping charges.
He’s my son too. How is that kidnapping, dumbass? Leave me alone. If you want to see Nick, you can come get him when we get back.
Not in the mood to ruin her night arguing with Reese, Nyelle locked her phone, put it face down, and rolled over onto her stomach, closing her eyes. The later dinner Ava set up had all of them stuffed and ready to pass out, but Vega made it clear she needed to stay up and wait for him because he was the only thing putting her to sleep tonight. Lucky for him, she was a willing participant in the plans he had for Nyelle and her body.
“I guess you thought I was playing.” Vega’s deep tenor and a cool breeze from the ceiling fan caused Nyelle to slightly shake her slumber. She hadn’t realized she’d drifted until Vega’s voice woke her up. At some point he had uncovered her body and was exploring with his hands. “Naked at night. That’s what we agreed on.”
