“Word? Then you better go get dressed. Come give me a hug first.” East lowered again to meet her, and after he let her go, she ran right to Joi and hugged her too.

“Bye, you can come back and play another time,” Kelsey informed Joi before she left them there, taking off down the hall.

“I guess she likes you,” Priscilla stated, joining the two as Joi removed her pink accessories.

“Well I like her too, so that’s a good thing.”

Priscilla walked the two of them to the door, stopping Joi with a tight hug. “Thank you for everything. I appreciate you.”

“You’re welcome but you don’t have to thank me.”

Priscilla chuckled and looked up at her son. “I raised him so I might need to be apologizing to you as well as thanking you. My son isa lot.”

East groaned and shook his head. “She already knows that, trust me.” East smirked at Joi. “You go, I’ma call you later.”

“Okay, baby, have fun.”

That was exactly what East planned on doing after he handled his situation with Patterson, so for now that was where his mind was.

The minute Nyelle’s face came into view, Vega surveyed her from head to toe. Although the heather gray spandex shorts and racerback tee she wore had his dick hardening by the second, he knew damn well she wasn’t ready to leave. They had less than an hour before they needed to be on their way to the airport.

“You need to get dressed, Pretty Ny. You’re not wearing that unless you plan on having me air out the entire airport.” Vega’s brows hiked slightly while he made his way inside, noticing there also wasn’t any luggage waiting for him to carry out.Her ass better be packed or we’re gonna miss our flight.

“I’m not going, so you don’t have toairanything out.”

“The fuck you mean you’re not going?”

“Hey, Vega.” Nick’s little voice and body barreling toward him took his attention away from Nyelle long enough for Vega to greet his overly hyper little friend. When Nick was within proximity, Vega kneeled down and lifted him into his arms.

“What’s good, little man? Why is your mommy not dressed and ready to go?”

Nick frowned, not sure of what Vega was asking, but Nyelle cut in quickly. She hadn’t mentioned the trip to Miami to her son. There was no need since it wasn’t happening. “Because I’m not going. I just told you that.” She reached for her son, but Vega turned away. The protective manner in which he held Nick and his height shut down Nyelle’s efforts.

“Why not? Everything okay?” Vega’s first instinct was to check Nick out. He already knew Nyelle was granted the time off work so the only other thing that would keep her home was her son.

“Yes, but my mom has friends coming in for a few days. She can’t keep Nick and?—"

“Aight bet, then he can roll with us.” Vega moved past the thought like it was nothing. “You wanna go to the beach?”

“What’s the beach?” Nick frowned at Vega before looking down at his mother.

“Nick, you know what the beach is. The sand and water.”

His little mind went on a journey before he smiled and nodded. “I wanna go. Can we play in the sand? I can’t swim.”

“Me either but don’t tell your mother or she might try and take away my G status.”

“Vega.” Nyelle’s tone was sharp, shutting down his and Nick’s little moment. She was irritated by the fact that Vega even brought it up. This time when she reached for Nick, Vega allowed her to take him. After she delivered a kiss on her son’s cheek and placed him on his feet again, Nick was given instructions to head to his room so she and Vega could talk.

“Why would you do that?” she fussed as soon as Nick was out of range.

“Do what?”

“Ask him about the beach. Once something is in his head, he will not let it go.”

“Aight so get him packed so we don’t miss this flight. He need a ticket? I don’t know how that shit works with kids.”
