“I’ll let you know, but if I find myself getting busy, I’ll move some stuff around to make sure I see you.”
“It’s not a big deal. If you’re busy I’ll understand.”
Vega chuckled and delivered a kiss but this time to her lips. “I know you’ll understand and you’re always a big deal, trust, nothing comes before you, but business has to be handled. Apparently I have you and your shorty to add to my payroll now.” He winked at Nyelle before standing and she sat up, pushing out a frown.
“I already told you I don’t want your money Vega. That’s not what this is about.”
Not feeling her tone, he turned quickly with a serious stare. “I know what the fuck this is about. It’s about me securing my future. That’s you and Nick. You don’t have to ask me for a damn thing or want anything from me, but trust, I got you covered for anything that assures both of y’all are good. And that doesn’t have shit to do with anything but me being a man, aight?”
Nyelle stared at him blankly for a minute. Vega was a lot to get used to. He was such a huge contrast from Reese that she wasn’t sure how to take him most days.
“Aight?” Vega questioned again with a hard look.
“Okay.”
Nyelle moved to the side of the bed and pulled Vega to her, circling his waist with her arms, leaning into his body while she was positioned upright on her knees.
“Nah, don’t come over here hugging on me after you just tried me.”
“Sorry. I just don’t want you thinking I’m here for the wrong reason and I don’t want you feeling obligated for responsibilities you didn’t ask for.”
“I asked for it the night I claimed your pretty ass, so get over that shit and let me do what I do.”
Vega cuffed the back of her head, allowing his fingers to move through her soft curls before they reached her scalp. “You are my responsibility and everything that comes with you. Now, let’s not have this conversation again, because I’m over it.”
With a soft kiss, Vega peeled her arms from around his waist before he was out of his clothes and inside her again. His dick was already encouraging him to do so.
“Come lock up. It’s almost time for you to start getting ready for work.”
“Fine,” Nyelle groaned under her breath as she carefully eased off the bed, quickly regretting the decision.
“You sure you’re good?” Vega teased through a chuckle causing Nyelle to shoot him a bird while she waited for him to unlock her bedroom door. The second it was open, he almost collided with a little body standing there with his head low, wiping his eyes.
“Shit,” Nyelle hissed, stepping in front of Vega to receive her son.
“Mommy, did you have a sleepover with your friend?” Nick’s lazy, sleep-riddled voice tensed Nyelle’s body as she lifted him into her arms and lowered his head onto her shoulder. Vega chuckled and stepped around her.
“No, Vega left his phone and just came by this morning to get it,” Nyelle explained, causing Vega to shoot her a look for the horrible lie.
“Okay because it’s a school night,” Nick mumbled, stating the rules Nyelle had given him more times than he could recall.
“It is, baby. Go climb in Mommy’s bed while I walk Vega to the door.”
“Okay, bye Vega,” Nick mumbled as Nyelle lowered him to his feet. He immediately staggered into the room and climbed right into the center of her bed.
“Later, big man. I’ma see you later, aight?” Vega tossed out and Nick smiled, nodding before snuggling up against a pillow.
When they reached the front door, Vega shook his head and smirked at Nyelle. “You need to work on your lies, Pretty Ny. That shit was weak as hell.”
She clenched her teeth, punching Vega in the arm. “What else was I supposed to say? He caught me off guard?”
“Shit, I don’t know. I’m new to the kid thing. You’re the pro.”
“Yeah I am, but it’s not like I have had to explain a man leaving my room this early in the morning before, or ever for that matter.”
Vega gave Nyelle a hard look before he smiled. “Good because I’d hate to have to get in your ass about being a bad parent to our son.”
“Ourson?” She angled her head to the side and peered up at him.
