“I’m yours, you’re mine, you’re staying.” He kept his expression neutral, lifting his mug and taking a drink. He didn’t speak until it was back on the counter.
“You changed your mind?”
I shook my head slowly. “Nope, but the decision was made post orgasm, and if you have decided…”
He laughed, gripping my chin. “I know exactly what I said and meant it. That wasn’t an ‘I just released a nut and talking crazy’ decision, Reece. I’m going to start looking for a place here in Miller’s Pointe.”
I nodded and lifted my mug, smiling behind it before I drank. “You don’t have to rush to find a place.”
“I also don’t have to be here. Things are good but I don’t want to fuck that up by crowding your space…”
I flashed a smile. “I have a lot of space to crowd. It’s just me.”
“Until spring. You’ll need that foreman’s cabin for the team that manages the hay that grows on your ranch.”
“I do, but when I said space, I meanthere.”
Nope, not strange at all asking him to move in here with me…
He lifted his mug, staring at me for a minute not saying anything while he drank his coffee. I grew confused when he placed the cup on the counter and walked away. I frowned then began to panic, thinking I’d overshot this whole thing. By the time Ro returned, I had gone through a million and one reasons why I had just screwed this whole thing up.
I was even more confused when he handed his phone to me. On the screen was a banking app open to the main page for Eero McCall and, well damn…
My eyes went wide before they shot up to his face. He was already staring at me with an unreadable expression in place that had me dropping my eyes to the screen before I spoke.
“That’s a lot of money,” was all I could think to say.
“Yeah, it is.”
“Um, would you like to explain why you’re showing this to me?”
He smirked and stepped between my legs again, moving me forward until his body was nice and snug at the apex of my thighs.
“You’re asking me to move in here with you. Before I agree, or disagree, I want to be fully transparent. I don’t need to stay here, Reece. If I say yes, it’s because beingherewithyouis a choice, not a need.”
I frowned for a minute, then everything fully processed, making me smile smugly. “You’re assuming I think you’re broke.”
“I honestly don’t know what you’re thinking. What I do know is we haven’t discussed much about that part of my life.”
“I didn’t think we needed to.”
“It’s relevant though, especially if I’m going to be here. This is your house, your ranch…”
“It’s just a house,” I defended.
“Nah, baby. It’s not just a house. This is your family’s legacy. As a man, I have to consider what that means, because if we’re together on some serious shit, the goal is for us to build our own legacy. One of the first lessons my father taught me about being a man is that I have to be able to hold my own. I need you to know I can, and if I’m here, I’m damn sure not half assing when it comes to you.”
I lifted my mug, grinning as the steamy brew eased into my mouth. “I have no problem letting a man be a man. If you want to share the wealth, then by all means, let it rain, cowboy.”
He laughed. “If I’m making it rain, you’re coming out of some clothes.”
“I’m not opposed,” I admitted.
His eyes crawled over me slowly, lingering at my exposed legs before he cursed under his breath.
“How about we circle back to that later? Right now I want to make sure we’re on the same page with what I need from you and what you need from me if we’re going to be in this.”
“I don’t need money from you, if that’s what you’re asking. I’m comfortable. Not that kind of comfortable.” I pointed to his phone which was now on the counter next to us, still exposing the very impressive balance in his bank account. “But things work around here. So all I need from you is you.” I grinned. “Well… and unlimited orgasms, because the ones you’ve provided so far have been very satisfying.”
