“Because I wanted to.” He shrugged. “If you don’t like it, then you can pick something else.”

“No, I’ll wear what you want me to wear,” I said, shaking my head. “I’ll see you in a little while?”

“For sure,” he said, nodding.

“When you said you wanted to go out, I thought you meant like to eat or something,” I said a few hours later as Amethyst helped me down the stairs of his private plane. We got into his waiting car and pulled off.

After he left, I worked for nearly two hours, only stopping when the alarm I set to remind me to stop went off. Getting ready was easy since he’d already picked out my clothes, so all I had to do was shower, fix my hair, and get dressed. The all-white body con wrapped dress he’d picked out for me was beautifuland made me feel sexy, and the way that Amethyst looked at me when I came out of the room earlier told me he thought the same thing, too.

“I plan to eat,” he sexily replied as he drove. He looked over at me and gave me a lopsided grin. “You look good as fuck, Sunshine.”

“So do you,” I said as I leaned across the armrest and kissed his cheek. “Where are we going?”

“Out,” he replied as I wiped traces of my lipstick from his face. “You down for a little adventure?”

“Yes,” I agreed, then sat down.

“Good.” He nodded, then turned the radio up. For the next twenty minutes, we rode through the city, enjoying each other’s company. I’d never been to Arizona, but seeing it now, at night, made me realize how beautiful it was, and I could understand Pyrite’s obsession with this area.

Amethyst parked his truck, turned it off, got out, and rounded it. When he opened the door, he stepped close to me and smiled. “You ready?”

“Do I have a choice?” I laughed, and he shook his head. “Then why ask?”

“Because I wanted you to tell me yes without hesitation,” he answered as he traced my jaw with his finger. He kissed me, then pulled back. “Now let’s go.”

I got out of the blue sports car, and we made our way into the building. I expected it to be a restaurant, but it turned out to be a club. I looked over at Amethyst, and he gave me a lopsided grin.

“What kind of club is this?” I asked as we made our way through the first floor. The music was loud, but instead of being rap, it was R&B. The atmosphere was relaxed, and from the way Amethyst appeared to be comfortable, I figured this was somewhere he’d been before.

“One you’ll love,” he answered with a laugh. Instead of going to a private room, we went straight to the dance floor, and Amethyst pulled me to him. “Now let’s have fun.”

Song after song played, and while I expected myself to be tired by the time Amethyst finally pulled us off the dance floor, I was anything but. I was buzzing with energy and wanted to go back out there, but Amethyst had other plans.

“I want to go back out there,” I laughed as we left the dance floor. It felt like every song that was played was a hit from the 1980s to the present.

“You gotta eat,” he laughed as we approached a set of stairs. He went first, then put his hand behind his back so that I could take it, and I followed him up. We went to a private suite and relaxed on the couch. Amethyst pulled my legs into his lap, then sat forward and picked up a menu from the table, handing it to me. “Figure out what you want to eat.”

“I’m not hungry,” I said, shaking my head as I looked over the menu.

“Food, Sunshine,” he said, tapping against the menu. “It’s not an option.”

“How did you find this place?” I asked as I read the menu. This place was quintessentially Amethyst, from the food to the music.

“A friend of a friend,” he answered, and I looked up from the menu to see him watching me. “And before you start going off-”

“I’m not going off,” I cut him off. “I’m not even going to ask questions.”

“Thank you,” he chuckled. “Even though I know your nosy ass wants to know.”

“I don’t.” I shook my head, and he gave me a look that said he didn’t believe me. “I’m not going to ask, nor am I going to wonder. I learned a long time ago that asking you questions will only have me asking more questions.”

“I’ve never lied to you about my connections,” he replied, and I shrugged. “You aren’t even a little bit curious?”

“Not even a little,” I laughed. “As long as it’s not a woman, then I don’t care.” It may have sounded hypocritical, given that I was married, but I couldn’t handle Amethyst dealing with another woman.

“It’s not,” he laughed. “I would never disrespect you like that.”
