“Nothing,” she lied, shaking her head. “I’m just hungry. Between that blunt, the little bit of liquor, and only having some fruit earlier, I’m starving.”
“You sure?”
“Yes, sir,” she said and tried to hide her shift of energy behind a fake ass smile. Instead of calling her out, I nodded and stepped back.
“Say grace so we can eat.”

I woke up to my face in Yale’s titties and her hands in my curls. We’d fallen asleep after eating and playing the game. It was still dark out, and my alarm hadn’t gone off yet, but I was too comfortable to move.
“You snore,” Yale said softly, and I looked up to see her wide awake. I lifted my brow, and she gave me a sleepy smile. “Loud as fuck.”
“That ain’t nothing new,” I said after I moved my head back into its original spot.
“I know,” she said. “But I wanted you to know just in case you forgot.”
“I didn’t.” I let out a deep breath and watched as her nipple hardened. It took everything in me not to move over just a little and bite the one closest to me. “Why are you up?”
“I haven’t gone to sleep yet,” she answered with a shrug.
“You just been lying here wide awake while I snore?” I questioned and adjusted my head to look up at her. “Why didn’t you wake me up?”
“Because you needed the sleep,” she yawned. “I was asleep when you called me earlier, remember?”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t matter.” I kissed my teeth. “When you’re with me, shit, even when you aren’t and can’t sleep, call me. I don’t care what you think I’m doing either. You’re my top priority.”
“I shouldn’t be,” she said, giving me a sad smile.
I rose up, then moved so that I was hovering over her and gave her my full attention. “The fuck you mean you shouldn’t be?” I questioned with an attitude. “Who the fuck should I be worried about if it ain’t you?”
“Amethyst-”
“Nah, answer my question,” I said, shaking my head. “Who the fuck should I be worried about, Yale, because for the last ten plus years, it’s always been you. When the fuck did that change, and who changed it, cuz I didn’t get the memo?”
“Why are you mad?” she asked, surprised at my outburst.
“I’m not mad,” I said as I moved and sat on the edge of the bed. “I’m annoyed as fuck but not mad.”
“At me?” she asked, and I shook my head. “Then at what, because that attitude is out of left field.”
“I’m sorry.” I ran my hand over my face and shook my head. “I didn’t mean to snap at you like that, especially for no reason.” I looked over my shoulder to see her grilling the fuck out of me. I gave her a lopsided smile, and she rolled her eyes. “Oh, now you mad?” I reached over and tugged at the cover she was using. “I said I’m sorry.”
“Stop talking to me, Amethyst,” she said, then rolled over. I chuckled and shook my head. My temper was short as shit, and I knew that, and I also knew that her saying she shouldn’t be mypriority wasn’t anything new; she’d said it in the past. I didn’t like it then, and I couldn’t stand the shit now. But that wasn’t her issue; it was mine, and I had to fix it.
I got back in bed, but this time I wrapped my large body around her and pulled her close. My mouth went to her ear, and I chuckled. “I’m sorry, Yale Forrester, I got mad at you for no reason, and I apologize for that shit.”
“It’s fine,” she sighed, and I shook my head.
“It’s not, you didn’t say anything wrong, and I know that, so let me apologize before my alarm goes off and I have to get out of bed.”
“It’s only two thirty,” she mumbled. “You have another three hours.”
I reached over and tapped her watch to check the time, then kissed my teeth. My ass thought it was later than that. I let her arm go, wrapped my arms around her, and pulled her close. “Then I’m going to cuddle with you until it’s time for me to get up, and you’re going to have to accept it and my apology.”
“Just don’t snore in my ear,” she replied. I waited a few seconds, then started fake snoring, which made her buck against me. “You’re a big ass kid.”
“And you love my ass anyway,” I laughed and held her. “Now tell me you accept my apology.”
