“Nah, Sunshine, I’m good,” I chuckled, then kissed her forehead.
“Did the meeting go okay?” she asked, then dropped her hands and tried to step back, but I pulled her close to me.
“Yeah,” I replied. “I got another one here shortly, though.”
“You in trouble?” Her brow went up, and I shook my head. “Then why another meeting?”
“How was your pussy appointment?” I asked instead of answering her question. I hated lying to Yale, so changing the subject was my best bet.
“Call it something else, Amethyst,” she laughed, and I shook my head. “Why not?”
“Because I don’t want to,” I answered with a shrug. “Now, answer the question. How was the appointment?”
“I have hope that I’ll be pregnant soon,” she said and smiled. The way her eyes lit up broke a nigga’s heart. She wanted a baby. I always knew Yale wanted kids, but seeing her want one with Grant was fucking with me. I wanted her to be pregnant with my babies, not his, and knowing what little I did about him had me hot. He was playing with her while she was over here being a good ass wife.
“Yeah?” I asked, and she nodded. “That’s what’s up. I can't wait to see you chasing behind a little girl who gives you hell and runs to me for protection.” I put my arm over her shoulder and nodded. “Yeah, I can see it now, a little Slate, giving you hell.”
“That’s a stone,” she said, shaking her head. “Why would I name my baby a stone name?”
“That’s going to be my baby, man,” I said, laughing. “Name my baby after a stone, and I’ll be a happy man.”
“Your God-baby will be named whatever I decide,” she said, playfully rolling her eyes. “And I won’t know the name until after I see him or her.”
“Yeah, alright,” I said, not giving a damn what she was talking about. "If it's a boy name him Slate but if its a girl name her Granite." This baby had a name, and it wasn’t even here yet.
The office door opened, and Grant stuck his peanut head having ass inside. “Yale, I have a few hours before I have to get back. You ready?”
“Yeah,” she answered with a nod, then turned to me. “Call me later?”
“You know it,” I said, pulling her into a hug and dropping a kiss on her forehead.
“I love you,” she whispered into my ear after she hugged me.
“Not as much as I love you,” I replied, then let her go.
I watched her leave, making sure I mugged the fuck out of Grant. That nigga’s days were numbered. After she was gone, I turned to Juju, who was watching us intently.
“Don’t say shit,” I said as she smirked. “Let me in the back, I gotta talk to Dr. H.”
“I figured you would,” Juju laughed. “Go on back.”
I went through the doors to the back and headed straight to Gray’s office. I knocked twice, then opened her door. Gray was sitting behind her desk, focused on her computer, but at the sound of the door opening, she looked up.
“Hey, what’s up?” Gray greeted me.
“I need a solid, and before you say no, understand I have never cashed in on shit in our friendship, but I am today,” I said as I sat across from her.
“This has to do with Yale, doesn’t it?” she asked, and I nodded. “What do you need?”
**
“What do I owe this pleasure?” Cross DeCorte-Strong said, opening her front door. She leaned against the frame, crossed her arms over her chest, and smirked up at me. “And if you lie to me, please understand I will kick your ass.”
“I need some information, Boss Lady,” I said, and she nodded. “It’s about Yale.”
“Are you finally going after her like I told you to do years ago?” she asked, and I nodded. “Good.” She pushed off the frame and turned to walk into the house. She was pregnant and not moving as fast as she usually did, so it didn’t take me long to catch up. “What do you need help with?”
“I’m going to kill her husband,” I said as we walked into the living room. She sat on the couch and watched me as I paced in front of her. “Nothing too crazy, nah, that’s a lie. I want the shit to be painful, but I can't even do that.” I shook my head. “I need to give Yale closure; I can’t do what I want to do then. But that nigga gotta die.”
