“About to brag on my sex game,” he answered, and I rolled my eyes.

“I wasn’t,” I said, shaking my head. “I was talking about how you’ve improved since I was gone and how you are only going to get better.”

“Then we were going to discuss the dick I provided?”

“No,” I laughed and shook my head. I mean, I could’ve, but that wouldn’t have done anything but make me want to fuck him even more than I do now. Seeing him naked, standing with his head back and water running over his body, had my pussy throbbing. He wasn’t even fully hard right now, and his dick looked amazing.

“Why not?”

“Because I want better for you.”

Amethyst lifted his head and turned around to face me. “What could be better for me than you, Sunshine?” he questioned as he approached me. He wiped the water from his face and stared down at me. “Huh? Because for the last ten years, you have been the best thing that has ever happened to me. You made me want to be better. I try every day because of you. Just being isn’t enough because I want to be the man that makes you smile, laugh, and all that other shit. I want you to know that no matter what, I’m going to be there. I know I fucked up, and if I have to apologize every day, then so be it, but just know that I’m going to be here every day.”

“What if I want to leave?”

“Then we go together.” He smiled. He cupped my jaw then licked his lips. “It’s no other option, Sunshine.” He kissed me before I could respond, and damn if his lips pressed against mine didn’t make me think everything he said was true. I knew he wasn’t a bad man or even an unnecessarily evil one, but he’d hurt me. I wasn’t going to play victim and act like my lying didn’t affect his life because it did. We both lied to protect the other.

I wrapped my arms around his neck to deepen the kiss and pulled him close. His dick rested against my belly, hard, long, and fucking proud. The heat had my body on fire, and I wanted nothing more than to wrap my lips around him or have him slowly push inside of me.

“Let’s finish this hair wash so I can get you to bed,” he said after he pulled back. I looked up at him and lifted my brow in question, which only made him laugh. “As much as I want to be inside of you right now, I gotta prove I deserve to be there first.” He stepped back so that we weren’t touching and licked his lips. “Thank you for washing my hair. You don’t realize how much I needed that.”

“You’re welcome,” I said, nodding. Even though I’d only washed his hair, I quickly washed myself so I could get out. Amethyst stood in the corner, far enough that he wasn’t touching me, but close enough that I could still feel his body heat, or at least I thought I could. I opened the shower door, grabbed a towel from the hook on the wall, wrapped it around my body, and stepped out.

“Sunshine?” he called out before I closed the door. I looked over my shoulder and waited. “I love you.”

“I know,” I said, nodding. “I love you too.” I closed the shower but could see him smiling through the glass.

“Come on, Sunshine,” Amethyst excitedly said. “Just trust me on this one.”

I stared at Amethyst, confused about what he was talking about. I hadn’t seen him since he left the house this morning, and now he was back, speaking as if we’d had a million conversations throughout the day.

“Amethyst, I don’t even know what you’re talking about right now,” I prompted him as I closed the design program I was using to give him my full attention. “You gotta slow down and start from the beginning because I think you’re having a continued conversation that only you were a part of.”

“I can’t,” he said, shaking his head. “I’m running late.” He put his hands on the top of his head and smirked. He was out ofbreath from running through the house looking for me. “I just need you to be ready to go when I call.”

“Go where?” I questioned slowly.

“Out,” he laughed. “We are going out.” He dropped his arms and nodded. “Just you and me.”

“And where are we going?” I asked, and he shrugged. “No, sir, I need a destination in mind to dress properly.”

He kissed his teeth. “Man, Sunshine, it’s not going to matter what you wear because you’re going to look good as fuck. Just throw on something comfortable that you won’t mind messing up.”

“Messing up?” My brow went up in surprise, then I shook my head. “You definitely have to give me a location now.”

“Can’t you just trust me and do what I’m asking?” he laughed, and I shook my head. “Why not?”

“Because you’re Amethyst Stone and I learned a long time ago that just trusting you to take me places usually ends with me bruised and bloody.” I put my left leg on the desk and pointed to the three scars that ran down my shin. “Exhibit A-C.” I put my leg down and raised my right arm. “Exhibits E and F.” I stood and was about to lift my shirt when he glared at me. “Oh, you don’t want to see any more of your handiwork?”

“So, you’re saying all those scars are my fault?” He crossed his arms and lifted his brow. “They didn’t have shit to do with the fact that you jumped off the cliff into the ocean after I told you not to.”

“You told me my legs wouldn’t push me far enough, not that the bottom had sharp coral along the edges.”

“I was right, your short ass legs couldn’t push you far enough,” he countered, shaking his head. “You cut your legs up, and I had to not only explain that shit to my people but then nurse your hardheaded ass back to health.” He put his hand in his pocketand took out his phone. “You are the worst patient in the world, by the way, because you didn’t listen to shit I say.”

“You didn’t know what you were talking about,” I laughed.
